5.0 out of 5 stars An Honest Look
It's about time some one took an honest look at this show. I love Farscape and though I don't agree with all of Pelucir's comments, it sure is nice to have someone actually talk about the pros and cons of the episodes rather than just say what a great job everyone is doing.

You'll find thoughtful information here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh, please!
Mr. Pelucir obviously has an obsession with FARSCAPE. Sadly, he doesn't seem to have a clue as to what's made the show great. He imagines the serie's writers have social and political agendas that don't exist and seems to think the show's getting worse, when it's only been getting better, episode by episode.

SInce this isn't an official guide, there aren't any photos, etc. because you can only get those if you are on the studio's payroll!!

Hey, just remember than anything which claims to be unofficial and has photos of the actors has been okayed by the studio. If you want to read the same old corporate line, go there. If you want to really discuss the show -- buy this book!

This writer doesn't really like farscape. He focuses on inane details and has factual errors. If you don't like farscape this book is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful Critiques, June 16, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Farscape Season Two Episode Guide : An Unofficial Guide with Critiques (Paperback)
This slim volume, which can be read easily in a single setting, provides a recap and an analysis for each episode of Season Two of the science fiction series "Farscape". It's mildly depressing to read, but then this is largely because the sophomore season for this show was very much a mixed bag, marked primarily by wildly uneven characterization and misuse of the regular cast.

The recaps are detailed, and the analyses are hard-hitting and, from where I'm sitting, mostly on target. Mr. Pelucir slams the show for the way it treats the female characters, particularly Chianna. Some of the episodes have a bit of a misogynistic bent to them, and the author rightly calls them out on it. He also offers some intriguing theories on the relationships between several characters, primarily Crichton and Dargo.

Please note that this is not one of the polished and hefty episode guides that genre fans can find for "Buffy" or the various "Trek" series. (Heck, even "Law & Order" has an ep guide now.) It has no pictures, no cast and crew interviews and biographies, no backstage tours or chapters on special effects, costumes, and the like. It's really a bare-bones presentation, and the cover is strikingly dull. My main complaint is that it would have been improved immensely by even just a couple of hours of editing; it's chock full of spelling and grammar errors, which are exceptionally annoying. Here's hoping the edition for the third season will, like the show, be an upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Insight into the Second Season, January 31, 2005
This review is from: The Farscape Season Two Episode Guide : An Unofficial Guide with Critiques (Paperback)
I really love Farscape and the second season was a pretty good one. I agree that some of the episodes took some real negative swipes at women, which was disappointing since the show has such strong women characters. It's great that Pelucir calls them out on that because no one wants to see that on such a good show.

Although a few photos would have been nice, I understand from my uncle who is an entertainment lawyer, that only official guides can have photographs and quotes. This was news to me, but it makes sense. Henson and CO probably wouldn't be too keen on critiques that aren't 100% positive, but that's what makes this book cool.

Season 2 is generally better than season 1--in most shows--because everyone is hitting their groove and this book is a great way to experience the show, whether for the first time or for the hundreth time.

This book like its predecessor, is very detailed in the storylines and critiques, however it needs undoubtly some sort of photos to make this book more attractive. This problem I already raised in my comment of the guide for the First Season.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly good..., May 21, 2008

Listen, most of what the author says makes sense, is right on target and goes along with most of my thoughts. Yet, as with the first book, there are slight problems. Talis Pelucir sees sexism ALMOST everywhere and the book really needed more editing. Not sure it needed any photos but it did need more proof reading and some more polishing before being released. Slim, cheap and all you really need.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Weak Book, December 5, 2002
This review is from: The Farscape Season Two Episode Guide : An Unofficial Guide with Critiques (Paperback)
As with the previous book in this series, you get nice episode recaps paired with thoughtful, careful analysis provided by someone who often does not really understand the show and is completely oblivious of this shortcoming. Criticisms and analysis range from insightful, to trivial, to clearly misguided. I'm getting rid of my copy of this book and wish I had not spent money on it.

Just finished it. It's even better than the first! Pelucir has been even more thorough with the second book, including great information with the plot and critique of each episode. During the first season, I was only an occasional watcher, but now I'm hooked!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard-hitting look at series, May 4, 2001

This review is from: The Farscape Season Two Episode Guide : An Unofficial Guide with Critiques (Paperback)
Wow...Mr. Pelucir pulls no punches in his critique of Season 2. This book is more comprehensive (longer) in both the synopsis and critique of each show. (Maybe because the storylines needed more explaination because of all the holes in the plots?) I am a fan of the TV series and science fiction in general. There are so many possibilites and worlds to be explored. However, as Mr. Pelucir points out, something bad happened in Season 2. Somebody at the production company needs to get back in control of the writers, and give the actors and characters firm ground (yes, I know it is set in space) to stand on. They are wonderful actors and characters. They and we deserve better. Everyone on the show should have a copy of this book. Science fiction fans are very loyal and have embraced "Farscape." Don"t mess up Season 3. (A forlorn hope as it turns out.)
