Farthest North: The Epic Adventure of a Visionary ExplorerFor someone like me who loves tales of early polar exploration and adventure, it's a 'must read.' It's about 700 pages of Nansen's day-by-day diary of three years drifing near the North Pole. Many probably would find it incredibly boring. If survival among the polar bears, walrus' and -40F ice turn you on. . .it's a wonderful fireside read for you!

This epic story about drifting in the ice pack is a good book and well written, but gets a little tedious after hundreds of pages about cold, ice and snow.

The book was in excellent condition (as reported in the seller's description), and was priced considerably below other copies I found online.I was also impressed with how quickly the book arrived, which was great since I was on a gift-giving deadline. One thing I didn't expect: the book is REALLY LONG, like 500 pages, so is a little large to carry around as vacation reading. |
