the absolute BEST cd for kids - and parents!!,

frances england's music was introduced to me well before i had a child - and i proudly admit that i immediatly loaded her music into my ipod playlists. how many of us parent-types can say that they listen to their kids' music when their children aren't even around?!! that is how good this cd is. no kidding.the lyrics are refreshingly clever & new. the tunes are catchy. (it's not unusual for me to find myself humming one of her songs randomly during my day - and not in an annoying i-can't-get-this-darn-song-out-of-my-head way, either.) and frances couldn't have a more sweet voice. oh, and my daughter digs her music. we're looking forward to frances' world tour! fascinating creatures is a most excellent baby gift for parents-to-be who fear that the only music they'll get to hear for the next 10 years of their lives will be cloyingly cute children's music. you will restore their faith that everything child-related doesn't have to be ridiculously hokey.

Smart, Creative CD for Young Kids,

I bought this CD after checking it out from our local library. Our entire family loved it. The lyrics are repetitive enough to engage preschoolers but clever enough to keep grownups interested after repeated hearings. The CD listens like riffs on a style--every song "sounds" like England, but they're all delightfully different, too. My husband loves it because England gives equal time to mummies and daddies (e.g., "Daddy-Oh" and "Paint a Picture"); I like the way she captures preschoolers' worldview and treats it with reverent humor (e.g., "Tricycle" and "Busy as a Bee"). My three-year-old's favorite song is "Charlie Parker," a fabulous, scatty romp through classic jazz and big band. She's been singing the song around the house since the second hearing.
