While not a complete book for a serious mushroom collector this book introduces the reader to the wonderful world of fungi. The artwork in awesome, and the amount of information on the selected species of mushrooms is great considering the size of the book. It would be a great companion for a walk in the north woods in late summer!!!

This book is a great introduction to the world of fungi. It has helpful information and illustrations, and it gives accessible information without dumbing it down.

Loved the clear and interesting descriptions along with beautifully detailed paintings of each mushroom. I liked the way the the pages were laid out with arrows to key points on the mushroom, spore print color, type of mushroom habit(saprophytic, mycorrhizal, parasitic). Lots of interesting tidbits of information about the different species as well. Can't wait for the second edition!

I work in a ranger station in northwestern Wisconsin. I get quite a few questions about mushrooms in the office. This book is one of the better ones for the "north woods". It is easy to read and has nice big color drawings. I would certainly recommend buying this book to add to field guide library :)
