I bought this for my older son (23) who has always had an interest in Astronomy. Plug it in. It looks like a regular globe during day, then, gradually as it gets dark the celestial skies softly glow from a background field of dark blue. He loves it. Just a real fun gift.

It's really an interesting toy that converts from an everyday, normal globe you would see in a school classroom into a constellation star matrix when the lights go out. A constellation book to complement this product would be recommended.

I ordered this as a special gift, and when I received it- It came with an electric adapter that WASN'T COMPATIBLE with a US electrical outlet! I ordered it so it would arrive just in time for a special occasion as a gift. This was extremely disappointing, as there was no mention of this in the description.
I contacted the seller, and they did not offer to send an adapter to make it work. They did not even offer to resend one that had an US adapter (They claimed they were out of stock). If they are out of stock, they why is this item still on sale???
I had to look for and find an adapter at Walgreens overnight for $15 to make this work.
Anyway, Don't buy this, unless you want to be disappointed!!

The product is good overall. I especially love the make-up of the countries, the details are clear and readable. I can learn greatly from it. They use names for each countries instead of numbers to point out the smaller ones. The globe at night is stunningly beautiful and the lighting brings serenity. However, the 2nd day in which i received this globe, the electrical wires burnt when I plugged in the socket. Perhaps the voltage is not compatible in different countries. Anyways, I strongly recommend people to buy this. Check out the voltage reading before you plugs.

We ordered this product as a gift to our daughter and she was excited to look at it and see it work; as soon as she went to plug it in and told us she couldn't due to the type of plug the item has which is not compatible to the one use here in the United States of America; nothing else came in the box, not even a product description print-out. We looked on the amazon website description for this product and nothing about the type of plug nor in the YoYo.com website, this is outrageous and disappointing to trick people this way.

We decided to purchase this globe based on the other views that were written for our son's 8th birthday. We were not disappointed. This globe is very sturdy, well made, and is very attractive. It makes a wonderful night light, and comes on automatically when the room darkens. My son rated it five-stars. Our other son wants one now too. They only negative commet my son had was it was a bit smaller than what he thought it was going to be. I think it's just fine and doesn't take up too much room. Perfect for nightstand or desk. Very cool.

This was amazing when it lasted, but now it will not light up and there is a loud buzzing noise when I plug it in. I did not drop it or anything, it just stopped working one day. It was not worth it, I wish I had not spent money on this globe because now it is just sitting in the garage, broken but too expensive for me to bring myself to just toss out. I wish I could get a refund. DO NOT BUY.

I ordered this for my son for Easter. It arrived today, and I couldn't have been more disappointed (what a relief that I opened the box before Easter morning!). I looked in the box and the two pieces of the globe were barely attached to one another. When I picked it up the top half came apart from the bottom half and both pieces fell from the arm that hold the globe together. There is a screw in the top that was attached to NOTHING, and after several attempts to put it back together I realized that I had purchased a piece of junk and it was going back for a refund... in a pile. Everything about it screamed "garbage." Even the plug was a retro-fit from a European two-prong plug. Great idea. Horrible execution. Don't get cute. If you want a globe, buy a globe. Not this thing.
