This was my first MetalEarth model. I found this to be a fun and challenging model and it looks pretty neat when completed. As a model of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, some of the details are off, but when put together it certainly looks like a Space Shuttle Orbiter. It took about an hour and a half to assemble. This is definitely not for young children. There are many sharp edges to be wary of and a ton of patience is required to build.

This product and all of the Metal Earth items are not toys. They are an intricate model that takes patience and skill to complete. They were not FUN to put together but challenging. The result s very satisfying and the models striking. Do not give this to a child or anyone who has a short attention span or gets frustrated easily. They are fragile before you start building, during the building process and after. The metal bends very easily and care must be taken to properly shape those pieces that require shaping. The right tools are essential. You will need fine needle nose pliers, tweezers, straight edges for bending, a shear cutter to remove the pieces from the metal sheet and a good magnifying lamp. The effort will be worth it.

This was tricky. I actually assembled the entire thing without any actual tools. I used the corner of a USB plug to bend a few pieces, and actually broke one of the little flaps on the jet assembling it. It was delicate work, but I have good fingernails and a lot of patience.

In hindsight, I should have used some actual tools. It would have been better, but I was technically able to assemble the whole thing without any, the USB plug not withstanding.

I will say it is smaller than I expected. It could fly right through a toilet paper roll, if it didn't have the wings and tail fin. That's not a criticism though; I should have read the description better.

These are very small models, but the solid metal look turns out really slick and cool looking. Very detailed and realistic looking. I gave it 3 stars because the sharp metal cut outs were painful for my son to put together, and he had many cuts all over his fingernails and tips of his fingers from the sharp metal edges.
