Don't dismiss Ballor's treatise on beading as "same old same old." She goes way beyond the usual necklace, earrings, and bracelet offerings (though, of course, all three are well represented) to demonstrate innovative applications. At first, the introduction appears a bit disorganized; notes about design--such as color tips, texture, random versus pattern--precede the foundational instructions about supplies and techniques. The 50-plus projects, however, belie first impressions; divided into four categories (simple stringing; wire-wrapped, looped jewelry; stitched beading; and combined techniques), all showcase real creativity. Choose from a charm bracelet of bottle caps, beaded belt for jazzy jeans, framed photo pendant necklace, or even camisole straps fashioned from floral beads. Occasional diagrams, as well as good directions and color photographs, help guide those new to the craft. Barbara Jacobs

This book is great for the beginner to experienced beader. Kim inspires the readers with great ideas with over 50 projects. She shows how to embellish purses, scarves, and sweaters, not just bracelets and necklaces. Kim includes information for all different kind of beads used for the projects, threads & cords, wire, jewelry findings, tools and stringing techniques. Great Book!!

I took this book out of the library along with several others because I wanted to take up beading. I liked this one the best so I went online and ordered it. I don't like to read a lot of instructions on how to do things and this book was direct and to the point.
