Not what the cover makes it appear to be,

This review is from: Fashion Fabrics: 1960s (Schiffer Design Book) (Paperback)
If you expect the content of this book to resemble the cover, you will be disappointed. The majority of the fabrics pictured in the book are of non-printed, woven fabrics. There are very few printed fabrics pictured in the book. With the exception of the design on the front cover, there are almost no examples of bright, graphical or geometric designs and no others that could be described as psychedelic. The fabrics pictured (again, other than the one on the cover) are not decidedly 60's designs. Even worse, some of the photos are such extreme closeups that the overall design of the fabric is not evident. If you are particularly interested in non-printed, woven designs, you might find this book somewhat interesting. If you are looking for examples of prints, great designs from the 1960's, or psychedelic designs, don't bother with this book. On the positive side, the book is printed on nice quality paper and the photographs are clear, so you can really get a closeup view of each thread in all those weaves. |
