These are decent wings. Some sort of cardboard with a wire in it to keep its shape. They're real feathers which weirds me out a bit- did they come from chickens destined for the dinner table or were they raised for this? It comes with a couple of extra feathers just in case you need to glue some on.
The wings don't stay in the "up" position. The thin elastic bands attached near the center of the wings aren't nearly strong enough or positioned properly to maintain the wings in the "up" position so they only work "down" unless you're willing to perform minor surgery on the wing to reposition & strengthen the shoulder straps. It's just simple physics - attached near the center = won't keep the majority of the weight "up" without them tilting wildly.
All in all, though, I got some good use out of them as props for photography & they're still in good condition to be used again.
