Editorial Reviews

About the Artist

High school friends, Michael Bruno and Jason Rosen, had spent time during their years in Rockland County, New York playing in various bands but had always spoke of forming a group of their own - one that would reflect their musical influences that ranged from Stevie Wonder to Prince to Kanye West. After graduating from college, Michael (NYU School Of Music) and Jason (Berklee College Of Music) connected with Andrew Lee and Alexander Noyes (who had formerly played drums for the Jonas Brothers). Andrew and Alexander would introduce rock music and similar influences to the group that would lead to a signature Honor Society sound. The band would spend the next year touring the New York and New Jersey areas playing at local bars, clubs and even house parties in order to build a solid fan base. Word about the band's music and live performances eventually caught the attention of the Jonas Brothers. After attending one of Honor Society's shows, the two groups met and formed an instant creative connection. The band immediately began recording songs for Fashionably Late with producer John Fields (Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World) and the Jonas Brothers. In between their studio sessions, Honor Society hit the road with the Jonas Brothers as they launched their world tour in North America. For a band that had played house parties months earlier, it was practically a shock to their system. "It was seriously unbelievable!" reflects Michael Bruno. "We had built a respectable fan base on MySpace and a lot of them were from outside the United States. But to walk out to the arena with 50,000 people, start playing our music and have all those people singing the words you wrote...you can't describe that feeling."

Product Description

Since the Spring, Honor Society has been named a breakout band to watch by Rolling Stone and a Buzzworthy artist by MTV. They also earned an opening spot on one of the best-selling tours of the summer as they joined the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sparks on the North American leg of the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009. Honor Society's explosive growth is due in large part to the commitment of an ever growing base of intensely loyal fans that the band communicated with using both MySpace and YouTube. Their infectious sound, skilled musicianship, high energy live shows and sense of style has led to nearly 4 million plays of their music on their MySpace music profile. Tracks, including songs written and produced by Honor Society, would get a new life in the studio sessions such as "Don't Close The Book." Alex Noyes recalls that "[Don't Close the Book] was one of the last songs we wrote before we left the East Coast. It was really a simple song but so layered with meaning for our fans, families, and friends back home." With each show fan respond grew and it became clear that the ballad was to be among the most popular of their songs. With 12 songs completed including youthful anthems like "Sing For You," the wildly popular song, "See U In The Dark" and the dancefloor jam, "Nobody Has To Know," Fashionably Late would become the project that truly represented what Honor Society was all about. Honor Society has become one of the hardest working bands in the business and they have no intention of stopping anytime soon. "It's hard to believe that a year ago, we were in New Jersey playing at local bars and clubs to anyone who would listen," says Bruno. "To have been able to finish our first album and create something that we believe is a true representation of where we have been and what we have become is beyond cool. We couldn't have done any of this without our fans believing in us from day one."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Album!, September 26, 2009

This review is from: Fashionably Late (MP3 Download)
This is Honor Society's first album, which I think is really good. H.S. was discovered by the Jonas Brothers and toured with them on the world tour this summer.
The songs:

Over you: 4/5 Catchy, very boy bandish, but a very good first single. Kinda Jonas-y pop.

Full Moon Crazy: 4/5 Another catchy song.A mixture of pop/rock, could be released as single.

My Own Way: 5/5 One of my favorite songs on here. A break up song, but a good one.

Two Rebels:2/5 Not one of my favorite, a good effort. It's a song that could grow on me.

Why Didn't I: 5/5. Another on of my favorites! It's catchy, and I usually have this song stuck in my head.

Goodnight My Love: 5/5 A love balled done well, and another one of my favorites. I love the lyrics of this song.

Here Comes Trouble: 2/5 This song didn't have an impression on me. It's a filler song and one I usually
skip.

See U in the Dark: 5/5 This song made Honor Society known. And a true H.S. song. Also a personal favorite.

Nobody Has to Know: 3/5 This song is good also. A party type song. The lyrics are good too.

Rock with You: 2.5/5 This song is okay. I usually skip this song.

Don't Close the Book: 5/5 Another ballad done well. I love the metaphor this song has. And the lyrics are really good. Reminds me of Turn Right by the Jonas Brothers.

Where Are You Now: 4/5 Another single by the H.S. from the movie Bandslam. Good lyrics, and a great closer of the album.

Overall, this album is a fun and clean. Hope this band gets somewhere.

I like their song "Over You"- its catchy but the album title not so much. Come on! "Fashionably Late- sounds like a album title of a chick band.
