4.0 out of 5 stars Really good, could be better.
The book is beautiful to look at and well-written, but it leaves me wanting more. More photos of the women profiled (some have but one photo and that doesn't really give you more than a glimpse into someone's style), more information on who they were, what they did, and when they lived (other than the photos, there are no dates provided). I like that the women are divided...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking
This is a pretty book at first look, but ultimately disappointing. There isn't enough information about each person, and some of them are quite obscure. There are also many who should have been included instead of some who were. The choice of photos also seems random and not necessarily what these women were known for.

More photos of the women profiled (some have but one photo and that doesn't really give you more than a glimpse into someone's style), more information on who they were, what they did, and when they lived (other than the photos, there are no dates provided). I like that the women are divided by "type," rather than just listed chronologically. That said, the book has inspired me to read more about some of the Fashionistas I found particularly interesting.

Wonderful photos (I especially love the ones of Grace Kelly, Diana Vreeland and Kate Moss), informative and delightful texts. What a great collection of girls with style - makes the perfect present for any fashion aficionado!

4.0 out of 5 stars Eye Candy, January 9, 2012

I really enjoyed this book, it's an fun easy read. Most of the 'players' will be easily recongized by anyone interested in fashion. This is a pretty book, with a brief overview of each woman. I quite enjoyed the brief highlights, & feel that it will inspire readers like myself to find more indepth information on the women they found particulary interesting. The problems as I see them are (1) the author does not identify what makes someone 'classic' 'modernists' etc., I feel she should have written qualifiers.. most of the categorize are fairly basic, however can anyone tell me what a 'Candy Girl' is? which is how SJP & Rachel Zoe are labeled; would Haute Bohemian or Free Spirit had better identified these fashionista's? I think so. (2) I find it odd that the author has Carrie Bradshaw as a fashionista rather than Sarah Jessica Parker.. strange. (3) Finally how did the Dynamic Duo Olsens not make this book.

I was really excited to get this book and when i did i was a little disappointed. I feel they really missed the mark with a lot of the women that were shown, most of them i've never even heard of.
