Fourth in the Great Fashions of the 20th Century series, this collectible Fabulous Forties Barbie reflects all the elegance of that exciting time, when Hollywood's glamour carried over into women's fashion with a dramatic, elegant flair. Barbie steps out in style with a beautifully tailored, satiny slim-cut skirt and crepe jacket in a deep ruby red. The full-length sweeping skirt features a thigh-high slit, and the smart, structured-fit crimson jacket comes with a sash belt. Her black faux fur stole drapes over one arm, as Barbie clutches her small black handbag. Perched atop her upswept curls is a small black hat with black feathers and a red rose. Fabulous Forties Barbie, complete with wine colored lips and beauty mark, is gorgeous and would be especially appealing to those who are interested in fashions from bygone eras. Her accessories are indeed "fabulous," my favorites of which being her rhinestone bracelet, dragonfly pin, feathered hat, and shiny stockings. Her platform shoes with ankle straps are also of a unique design. This is definitely not a doll for young children, but I would highly recommend it for adult collectors.

When I first saw the picture of this doll in a magazine, I thought, "I must have this doll!" But when I saw her in person in a store, I decided against it. I think that her skin and eyes are to pale with her dark lipstick and didn't want to have to completely make her over (especially at the price). But, in my opinion, all the other features of this doll are flawless.
