Very historically accurate!

Since I also collect vintage clothing from the Edwardian era through the '30s, it also came in handy for dating and authenticating my own collection.

I referred to this book extensively while writing my historical novel, SLAPSTICK (LTDBooks). Since I also collect vintage clothing from the Edwardian era through the '30s, it also came in handy for dating and authenticating my own collection. This book has it all, from underwear to children's clothing.

I have recently surveyed all of the books on 1920s fashion and accessories. This is the best one for information and clarity. Wonderful pictures and details that you will not find in any other book. Text is short but pithy. A real treasure. I also recommend her 1930s book too!

Dear Amazon,

I purchased this book from Amazon as a birthday gift for my daughter, who loves 1920s fashions.

I was delighted when the book arrived in plenty of time for her birthday on 14 May, and much earlier than Amazon's estimated delivery time.

My daughter LOVES this book and I do too! It is filled with beautiful colour illustrations of the fashions of the time, including underwear, children's and men's fashions too. It also has a considerable amount of historical information regarding what was happening in the world during the 1920s.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the 1920s and what women were wearing during that decade.

I bought this book because of the glowing recommendations here and was sorry I did. To me it's visually cacaphonous; poorly laid out with, for the most part, junky graphics. The reproductions of art works, advertisements, etc. are of consistently low quality (and often too small to be instructive), and the modern run-of-the-mill mannequins used to model the clothing look ridiculous. If you're going to make a book on 20's fashions, use mannequins from the 20's (or repros) for heaven's sake. On top of that the photography is uninspiring. Maybe it's useful for research but this book is certainly not aesthetically pleasurable.

This was a pleasure to read (and LOOK!) through. The descriptions are interesting, and the images are fascinating. You will see multiple examples of many, many pieces from the 20's, from shoes and accessories to various articles of clothing for men, women, and children. For Jazz-era or fashion enthusiasts, this is a must!

Bought for my wife-who is deeply interested in 20th C womens history, and 19th-20th C womens fashions. She thought it was an outstanding picture book, and she actually found things she didn't know about 1920's fashion. (A very rare admission.)

Highly recommend buying a good quality used copy.

This is okay for all of the photos of existing clothing & the amount of types it covers (including mens, sports, maternity), but there are a few errors in identification in the text.
