Book Description

Aspiring supermodel, Kelli Crawford seems destined to marry her hotshot boyfriend, but on her twenty-fifth birthday she wakes in the future as a fifty-year-old suburban housewife married to the now middle-aged high school nerd.

Trapped in the opposite life of the one she wanted, Kelli is forced to re-evaluate her life and discover what is really important to her. Will she overcome the hilarious and heartbreaking challenges presented to her and get back to the body of her younger self? Or will she be stuck in the nightmare of hot flushes, demanding children, raunchy advances from her husband and hideous support underwear forever?

5.0 out of 5 stars This book intrigued me from start to end February 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'd give it more stars if I could for originality and for making me smile. (Very few books have managed to do that as much as this one.) Fast Forward by Juliet Madison is a winner and highly recommended. And if you think from the blurb that this story is a re-hash of something you've read before or seen on a DVD beofre, you are very wrong. Far from it. This story is very cleverly constructed that made me giggle aloud at some of the 'characters' and the situations Kelli finds herself having to get through. There is nothing predicatble about the plot at all. In fact, I had to keep reading just to see where the story went next. I was delighted and intriqued from beginning to end and I particulary loved the chapter pages. The witty first person storytelling made for an effortless and engaging read, all beautifully tied togther for a satisfying ending. I think anyone (I'm 53) would love this read. What a refreshing change. There are even a few life lessons in there to remind us all about what's important (without being preachy). Clever. Clever. Clever. I will look out for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible! February 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is already going on my "best books of 2013" list and I'll be watching greedily for anything else this author puts out.

I laughed so hard...and I sniffled from "I'm so touched" tears more than twice.

Imagine..You're 25, you're whole life is ahead of you, you're a supermodel with a sexy cameraman beau...what more could a girl ask for?

But then you wake up 50 and find you have two kids, a roll of fat, a husband named McSnelly, and wrinkles!

Kelli has one day to figure out why she's suddenly time-traveled 25 years in the future, what happened to change her life course, and decide what she's gonna do about it.

So incredibly funny!!! There's futuristic stuff, sarcastic wit, some kind of spandex bodysuit that may endanger the entire female race...I really can't say anything that will do this book justice. Let's just say I like to read in bed, in the wee hours of the morning, and my husband will be sleeping next to me...and I laughed so hard, I woke him up.

Here's what our heroine thinks as she's about to go bungee jumping with the son she woke up to find she had.

"...imagined myself launching off the edge to hang precariously above the water. I shuddered as I envisioned all my saggy bits sagging upside down, my loose turkey-neck sing falling over my face, covering my mouth and nose and cutting off my air supply. This could be fatal in more ways than one."

And this:

"Would you like a paper bag?" the receptionist asked.
"What for? Do you mean to put over my head? Geez! I know I'm not looking my best but have a little compassion!"

This is not the life Kelli envisioned, but if she learns to be...less materialistic and open herself to the joys around her, she may see things in a new light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic comedy with heart February 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Fast Forward" is not only the title of the book, it's also a really intriguing concept that Juliet Madison develops through the story. It's original (to me, at any rate!) and believable (in its way). Best of all, the characters in "Fast Forward" are honest, recognisable, and their relationships -- I loved the genuine emotion of the relationships, their conversation and the tangled mess we can make of relating to those most important to us.

There is a clarity to "Fast Forward" that gives depth to the rom com fun. Compassion, wisdom -- we're on Kelli's emotional journey with her.

This is a wonderful book. Reviewing is a tough gig and I was thinking of cliches: heart warming, life affirming. Nope. What "Fast Forward" does is celebrate life. Live your dreams--and read "Fast Forward" :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book! February 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the premise for this book - imagine waking up in the future to your older self and finding the opposite of what you had expected! But this is no frothy read - Fast Forward took me on a journey through themes that are familiar to women of all ages - dreams for the future, marriage, children, career, ageing, and struggling with a positive sense of self - and dealt with them in an often funny but truthful way. I will never look at certain kinds of underwear again without bursting into laughter!
Written with a clever, sharp sense of humour, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments which are perfectly balanced by scenes that made me get misty and teary. I admire any author who can make me laugh and cry in the same scene.
Juliet Madison has written a wonderful, engaging, feel good novel that I will be reading again and again. I look forward to this new author's next work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, insightful, thoroughly enjoyable February 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story starts out with a very self-absorbed heroine, Kelli, who is suddenly catapulted 25 years into the future overnight with its array of futuristic gadgets (which I can see becoming the reality in the not too distant future) and a life that is nothing like what she imagined for herself. As Kelli comes to grips with her new life, she moves through some hilarious predicaments and learns some important lessons on the way. The quotes at the beginning of the chapters add depth and humour.
