Resembles Tokyo Xtreme Racer series,

PS2 Version: I got this game the day it came out and so far it's ok. I thought it would have more like a NFS feel to it, but it more closely feels like the Tokyo Xtreme Racer titles. That's not really a bad thing though b/c I enjoy the Tokyo titles. I don't think it's worth $40 though. For half that it would be well worth it. But I am enjoying it though so I don't feel too cheated although I was disappointed in the feel of the game. So far all I have been doing is driving around finding shops and such and finding roll up racers along the highway...meaning you do the same thing as in the Tokyo games...find a racer driving along the highway, come up behind him and flash the lights at him to accept the challenge...then you're racing and trying to get so far ahead of him. I also found that at certain points along the highways, you take a left into racing hotspots where rival crews await you to challenge them. Once you beat the crew members...usually around 4 guys...you get to challenge their boss. If you win, you get his/her car. That's a nice plus indeed although you can't modify their cars further. Graphics aren't too shabby but not the best either. Also, when racing, the screen is really rough and jumpy. I prefer a smooth race screen. Not bad game, but not super either. If money is tight, just go get similar titles such as Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 or Zero or even Drift which are pretty good games and wait for this title to go down in price. Also, if you are looking for an NFS style racing title, look elsewhere.
PSP Version: Pretty much the same as the PS2 version but on a handheld system. Once again, if you enjoy the Tokyo Xtreme Racer titles, then pick this one up for a bargin bin price. Note: I had to review both versions in here b/c for some reason amazon stuck my ps2 review under the psp version of the game.

Great for beginning racers. Based on night time. Drifts are not like the real ones but that's what makes it easier.

This was a gift for my little brother who just turned 15, and at first I was a little skeptical as it was "USED-Like new" but with electronics nowadays I am never sure about buying brand new for a ridiculous price or used and take my chances of it not working correctly or not at all. It came on time and was wrapped like new. Very impressed. Lil bro played with it all night and it was all he could talk about for 2 days. Will def use this vendor again in the future. Highly recommended!!
