4.0 out of 5 stars Resembles Tokyo Xtreme Racer series
PS2 Version: I got this game the day it came out and so far it's ok. I thought it would have more like a NFS feel to it, but it more closely feels like the Tokyo Xtreme Racer titles. That's not really a bad thing though b/c I enjoy the Tokyo titles. I don't think it's worth $40 though. For half that it would be well worth it. But I am enjoying it though so I don't...

3.0 out of 5 stars NIght time Racing
Great for beginning racers. Based on night time. Drifts are not like the real ones but that's what makes it easier.

But I am enjoying it though so I don't feel too cheated although I was disappointed in the feel of the game. So far all I have been doing is driving around finding shops and such and finding roll up racers along the highway...meaning you do the same thing as in the Tokyo games...find a racer driving along the highway, come up behind him and flash the lights at him to accept the challenge...then you're racing and trying to get so far ahead of him. I also found that at certain points along the highways, you take a left into racing hotspots where rival crews await you to challenge them. Once you beat the crew members...usually around 4 guys...you get to challenge their boss. If you win, you get his/her car. That's a nice plus indeed although you can't modify their cars further. Graphics aren't too shabby but not the best either. Also, when racing, the screen is really rough and jumpy. I prefer a smooth race screen. Not bad game, but not super either. If money is tight, just go get similar titles such as Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 or Zero or even Drift which are pretty good games and wait for this title to go down in price. Also, if you are looking for an NFS style racing title, look elsewhere.

PSP Version: Pretty much the same as the PS2 version but on a handheld system. Once again, if you enjoy the Tokyo Xtreme Racer titles, then pick this one up for a bargin bin price.

Note: I had to review both versions in here b/c for some reason amazon stuck my ps2 review under the psp version of the game.

This was a gift for my little brother who just turned 15, and at first I was a little skeptical as it was "USED-Like new" but with electronics nowadays I am never sure about buying brand new for a ridiculous price or used and take my chances of it not working correctly or not at all. It came on time and was wrapped like new. Very impressed. Lil bro played with it all night and it was all he could talk about for 2 days. Will def use this vendor again in the future. Highly recommended!!

A Kid's Review
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

I got this game for christ mas and I thought that it was Ancient. There are load time for every little thing, hot spots seem to take the longest to load. Then the auto save feature is so annoying, after you do any thing it saves and takes like to minutes to do so.
The gameplay is so completey on realistic. For starters, there are no damage models. You can do anything to your car and nothing happens to it. Once I was racing at like two hundred miles an hour and I hit a car and I jumped. I mean literally jumped. It flipped all the way over to the other side of the road and I had to restar the race. And the cars handle like [...], this makes the drifting reallly hard. The cars do not react like they should, meaning that the racing in genaral is kind of frustrating. When you are are driving on the high way, or the wangan, there are litte things that come out of the wall and spin you around, this gets really annoying in the last couple of races on the highway where it seem s that if you make on samll msiake then you are definitly going to lose.
On the plus side the graphincs are good and the musiv is jammin and in conclusion I say that namco should work harder on ghre newer games.
P.S.
I have one last complanit, After you win bosses car's you can not upgrade them further, this gets really annoying when you win a car with alot of potential, but you can't make it got that extra mile to make the car one of the best in the game, all in all I hated this game, but I thinhk that you should rent before youy buy.

this game sucks it not real drifting and the game play is pain. When doing drifts the cars do not react as they would in real life. A waste of money.

The game did not do the "Fast and the Furious" name credit. Visually to rough for the eyes, not smooth. Sub par graphics. Did not feel any real sense of speed. Gald I didn't pay $39.99.....................

Bought the Fast and the Furious game yesterday and HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY! As a drift racer in real life, this is THE GENUINE ARTICLE. Anyone who wants to get into drifting, NEEDS The Fast and the Furious! Leave the roll up races on the freeway and get drifting up in the Japanese mountains. You also need to know how to customise your car to make the most of the game. Its AWESOME! Give The Fast and the Furious a spin - learn about Drift Racing and smoke the opposition!
