About the Author

Sally Harding is passionate about antique textiles and embroideries, and has had a long line of needlework-related professions. Sally co-authored a major needlework encyclopedia in the late 1970s and has authored and edited books and articles on knitting, crochet, and embroidery ever since. She was the Technical Knitting Editor for Vogue Knitting from 1982 to 1983 when it made a comeback as the premier American knitting magazine. For many years she has edited most of the much-admired books of designer Kaffe Fassett, and been endlessly inspired by his invaluable contribution to knitting. A knitting "engineer" and pattern writer, as well as a designer, Sally delights in experimenting with knitting techniques. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Pretty pictures and inspiring colorways, to be true. It's a small book and the patterns are all scarves and bags (I think, without looking back). No garments. Aimed at a very beginning knitting and very encouraging to someone who is just starting out.

One of the project pictures gave me the idea to try knitting dead pantyhose. Still need to test that.

Net: One good idea harvested. Glad it was in the library.

Did not like this book. Returned. As an experienced knitter, who teaches and designs, I found this book unusable. I do buy alot of book online with out seeing them first. This was the first time a ever looked at a book that was terrible. The pictures of the items that were to be knitted only showed you part of the item. The layout was bad. It didn't draw you in to want to make any thing. This was the worst knitting book I ever saw. Did not give me any ideas, as I a usally get from any book and/or magazine. All my student felt same way. We all could not figure out want items were being made.

I like this book. I'm a basic knitter so this has lots of ideas for different ways to make scarfs, bags, rugs etc. I can see how it would not be of interest to a more experienced knitter though.
