Elevator Music?,

This is a good Gerald Veasley cd and sounds a lot like his previous work. However, I was a little bamboozled because I read a review in a magazine that this cd was Veasley's most bass solo cd ever. There is not one bass solo song on this cd. It is good old Gerald Veasley soft jazz. I like it and it is good, but hopefully you didn't buy this cd like me which was based on a different review. The songs are all soft jazz and Veasley's six string bass playing is prolific indeed. If you liked his previous work you will enjoy this cd.

On the Right Track for Sure!,
This review is from: On the Fast Track (Audio CD)
This is the first CD I ever purchased by Gerald Veasley and it is excellent. I heard a cut of "DO I DO' on a local Jazz radio station and was instantly keyed into the excellent horn playing especially on the saxophone. I decided to buy the CD and Gerald Veasley certainly is a solid and talented player but the saxophone and horn arrangements were outstanding. This horn players name in the album cover is Chris Farr and if there ever was someone whose sound is ready for the big time jazz market it should be him. I hope someone hears this CD who can breakout new artist. I would like to give Gerald a 5 star on a great album and more importantly a talented group of musicians as support.

Wow, Gerald is truly a classic when it comes to jazz! I'm once again blown away by the captivating rhythms in his music. "Do I DO" had me snapping my finger's then the sweet sounds of "Sweet Rain" calmed my soul. What an awesome spirit I feel when I listen... It's definately one for a classic favorite in my cd case!! I thought he'd done it with "Love Letters" but he's surpassed that. Have you heard "Valdez in the Country" yet? You need to get that classis as well! The man is bad!!

Can Mr. Veasley top his new CD? Yes, the more he writes/plays/produces the better he gets. "On The Fast Track" has great mixture of songs for everyone. It is definitely a great CD to listen to at home and while driving in your car. I especially like the title track, along with "Kicking 22 Express", "Heaven to Earth," "Deep Blue Samba", "I Desire" AND his tribute to Grover Washington, Jr. "Goodnight Moon." (The whole CD?) He is definitely with the best record company around, Heads Up, where the best music is being made. Keep up the good work, Mr Veasley--looking forward to you next CD!!!

Allways On Top..........,

Gerald Veasley has always represented the best when it's time to experience a bass virtuoso in action. His melodic skills and funky, tight rhythms are just part of what keeps this CD in your player and not in a rack by your entertainment system. From my favorites "DO I Do" (a Stevie Wonder classic) to "Sweet Rain"-there's no holes in this body of work. My only wish is to here "Deep Blue Samba" get more spins on Smooth jazz stations and for the public to go see this master artist live. Gerald Veasley's latest "On The Fast Track" is for sure on the right train. Funkmeister

Definately On The Right Track...,

This is the first album I ever bought by Gerald Veasley, and I must say... the man is bad. He plays bass, guitar, and even the keyboard. I have to hand it to his band too because Mark Knox is a one-man string-section on "Heaven To Earth", while Donald Robinson tears up the keys in "Good Night Moon". This cd won't be coming out of my player anytime soon. What's so good about this cd is not only the rhythm of the tracks, but also the melody. If it wasn't for the remake of Wonder's "Do I Do", I probably wouldn't know this album existed. Ironically, there other songs just as infectious as that one. Gerald Veasley is up there with Gregg Karukas as far as straight-up melodic jazz music goes. Although the whole album is good, I still have a top 5: "Do I Do", "Next Stop Soulville", "Heaven To Earth", "Sweet Rain", and "Good Night Moon". If you don't have this in your jazz collection, well... I guess you should go do something about that.
