They were particularly useful on pieces with outside corners or inside miters on off angles. Installing simple crown (four inside 90 deg corners) it was just as easy for me to just push the flat end into the corner and fit the coped end without the clip. Where the clip does come in handy in theses situations is in getting an accurate measurement. Several clips will help support a tape measure so I can get measurements alone that I needed a helper for before. I used a combination of the clips and a thirdhand support pole. I set several clips on the end of the crown away from were I was planning to start nailing. I placed the crown molding into the clips and started nailing. Once I got close to the first clip I removed it and inserted the pole pushing the crown into position until I was ready to nail.
I don't think these will be as helpful on pre finished cabinet crown, I think the tolerances are going to be too tight to allow room for the clip. I will update my review once I use them on kitchen crown.
Overall I am very happy and would highly recommend these to anyone both pros and do it yourselfers.
Honestly, I could not have completed this project without these clips. They are very handy and I will continue to use them as I continue to renovate my house. For the price, they definitely prove their value. I would recommend them to anyone attempting a solo crown molding project.
I did however complete my living room without a helper, but had to nail the crown, remove the clips and then un-nail it to adjust length or fit. Overall, worth the 6-bucks!
