GET THESE BEFORE YOUR NEXT SOLO CROWN JOB! I've fashioned my own helper tools from wood blocks and hanging strap, but it was still pretty frustrating work hanging the really long moulding solo. Saw these, and thought it couldn't hurt to try - especially with Amazon's excellent satisfaction policies! Now I'm keeping these in the toolbox forever. They definitely paid for themselves in time with the very first use, and they're strong too...dropped several of them throughout the job and they never suffered the slightest chip.

I am a profesional trim carpenter who hasn't had a full time helper in the last two years. I find I have to work alone way too often. I have devised a number of aids to help hold up crown molding. I recently bought a set of these and have used them several times in the last week. I have used them on paint grade room crown with very good results. I would only use them on lengths of crown longer than 8 feet. On short pieces they just took more time to install than they were worth.

They were particularly useful on pieces with outside corners or inside miters on off angles. Installing simple crown (four inside 90 deg corners) it was just as easy for me to just push the flat end into the corner and fit the coped end without the clip. Where the clip does come in handy in theses situations is in getting an accurate measurement. Several clips will help support a tape measure so I can get measurements alone that I needed a helper for before. I used a combination of the clips and a thirdhand support pole. I set several clips on the end of the crown away from were I was planning to start nailing. I placed the crown molding into the clips and started nailing. Once I got close to the first clip I removed it and inserted the pole pushing the crown into position until I was ready to nail.

I don't think these will be as helpful on pre finished cabinet crown, I think the tolerances are going to be too tight to allow room for the clip. I will update my review once I use them on kitchen crown.

Overall I am very happy and would highly recommend these to anyone both pros and do it yourselfers.

Very helpful product if you're doing a solo crown molding project. To be honest, these clips are nothing more than an extra pair of hands to support the molding at the far end as you're measuring and installing. They're also a little difficult to work with as they don't hold the molding in the installed position. The modling is supported a few inches below the ceiling and allows the face to fall foward. This can be frustrating when you go to nail one end into place because the far end is slightly pulling down and away from the wall. However, it's no where near as frustrating as trying to get my wife to patiently help me install crown molding.

Honestly, I could not have completed this project without these clips. They are very handy and I will continue to use them as I continue to renovate my house. For the price, they definitely prove their value. I would recommend them to anyone attempting a solo crown molding project.

The molding clips eliminates the need for a helper, but if you want to "dry fit" a piece of crown before nailing, such as a coped inside corner while checking finished length, then the clips need to be removed, thus defeating the purpose.
I did however complete my living room without a helper, but had to nail the crown, remove the clips and then un-nail it to adjust length or fit. Overall, worth the 6-bucks!

Bought this based on reviews which really helped me installed crown 4 5/8" in two rooms by myself. Simple as could be. When working with flexible MDF crown I wish these clips were a bit more rigid as there were two cases when the crown slipped off while manuvering around. Overall, these are a MUST have. I also suggest cutting a template out of plywood using a jig to line up the crown with the ceiling at the correct spring angle. Also suggest ripping a backing for the crown if there are no ceiling joists to nail in to.

I installed crown moulding throughout a 1200sq ft condo without a problem and with no need to pay a helper. If you're a carpenter who only does that for a living, I'm sure there are better(more durable and adjustable) hooks out there, but for less than $10, these did the job and then some.

The FastCap Crown Molding Clips are an excellent value and are very helpful. One of the biggest problems for the homeowner putting in crown molding is that it is really difficult to get the material into position while you shoot that first pin or two. For under 10 dollars, the FastCap clips give you the ability to temporarily hold the molding very close to the right position without a helper. Recommended.

Probably both more and less than you need. Advertised as a "leave in place until molding installed, then remove" product, in actual use I had to remove it (easily done) before finishing the molding installation since it was too thick to allow the official instructions. Handy, and price is low. For really cheap folks you could do the same thing with a small nail and a loop of twine.
