Can a 48 year old women install cabinets by herself? With these cabinet jacks from FastCap the answer is yes! I just finished installing all my wall cabinets and I don't think I could have done it without these jacks. I put up a 1x3 ledger board to rest the back of the cabinets on then used the jacks to level them and hold them in place. My hands were totally free to use my level, drill and other tools. I looked all over for cabinet jacks and most are much too expensive for one time use. These little guys are fantastic for the do it yourselfer.

I had both this version and the bigger version that works for crown molding.
This one has a very good price/value ratio, I could adjust cabinet to perfection by myself. It's strong enough to hold cabinets on it...

My only concern , when trying to adjust the cabinets in place, this thing can raise the cabinet up with fine adjustments(one needs to get used to it), the problem comes when you need to LOWER it DOWN...the ONLY option you have is to release the handle and start pumping it up again....

Very annoying, I'm considering paying double the price for other brand like T-Jak (screw type) that work both directions smoothly.

A little pricey but these are useful. Like their big brothers, these take a little time to break in and get used to using. If you work alone like me, you are always looking for tools/ways to make the job a little easier. These jacks work fine to support cabinets, apply pressure to countertops and a variety of other tasks that require a "3rd" hand. Like most Fast Cap products, the idea is great but the quality control has a little to be desired. All in all a decent product.

I have used one of these jacks for several years as a professional cabinet installer. Finally broke it this week and had to finish the job the "the old fashioned way". I want my new jacks to arrive before my next job. I don't think I can live without them. Why five stars if it broke? In the time I have had this tool I have burned through 3 chopsaws, 2 compressors, 2 jigsaws, and 3 cordless drills, all quality brands. This jack has withstood hundreds of jobs and years of knocking around in the back of my van. I would and do recommend this tool to anyone that installs cabinets.

The product was exactly as expected as i have the larger size 3rd hand already in use. The problem was that this product was sold as a "2 pack". When received there was one in the box. After calling Amazon they resent the order and told me to just send the original package back. As expected when it came there was one in the box. Now i have the 2 i ordered but Amnazon is waiting for my return. Sigh......after 2 phone calls i'm still tryting to explain to them that they have a problem in there stock room. The saga continues.....

We do a lot of repairs, renovations etc for rental homes and one of us is a lot more useful than the other when it comes to physical strength and endurance. After a few drops that resulted in damaged cabinets or close calls - I happened to see this and decided to give it a try. It's a toss up who is happier...me for not having to stress so much when trying to hold up things or my better half who can work without my help in greater safety. Purchased the large and small sizes - both work great. Easy release, stabilized footing, solid performers. Have owned for five years and other than occassionally have to hunt down the feet which have a habit of falling off, totally satisfied.

I'll preface with the fact that I am a professional cabinet maker and installer, using some prefab and some much heavier solid wood custom made cabinets. I specialize in floor to ceiling custom library walls and rooms. I use a full set of the full size version of this Fast Cap for a variety of jacking, lifting, and holding jobs. These tools are very well made for lifting and holding; one review complained about not having the ability to slowly lower a cabinet. If you need slow lowering you will need a different product like a bottle jack using site made wooden extensions or an aluminum floor jack or something like a transmission/atv floor jack. This medium size 3rd hand is perfect for installing cabinets above base cabinets or removing and replacing over the range microwaves. I just used a pair to support and lower an old over the range microwave in a stair step fashion, down one jack while supporting with the other jack. FastCap does sell another shorter handy sink disposal jack. These are very well engineered even with the plastic components. Lift capacity per jack for these is rated at 70 lbs. each. The name of the product is intended for people like me that work solo and have to be clever when levitating 60 plus pounds overhead. I would read the negative reviews with skepticism; there's always someone complaining after failing to research the product he bought.

Replacing kitchen cabinets used to be a team effort, but with the right tool, one can actually work alone. Used specifically to replace the upper cabinets, the job followed this order. First, I used the jacks to aid in the removal of the old upper cabinets, utilizing the existing counter top on the lowers units for support. Holding the cabinets steady, I was able to remove the mounting screws alone. The old stove and frig. were also used with some risers (made from scrap lumber) to remove the odd cabinets. By placing the jacks at the FRONT edge of the cabinets, the lifting pressure automatically holds the cabinets against the wall. I removed them one unit at a time until clear. Leaving the lowers in place, it is now time to install the NEW uppers, using the same process in reverse. One could actually replace one upper unit at a time, but as my design called for differing dimensions, I removed all the old uppers first. While the walls were bare, I marked the stud locations for fastening. While the jacks hold the cabinet for you, get the unit square and level, and drive the mounting screws. Once all the uppers are in, put the jacks away, and swap out the lower cabinets.
This great tool saved time and effort, and yeilded flawless results.
