5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cabinet Jacks
Can a 48 year old women install cabinets by herself? With these cabinet jacks from FastCap the answer is yes! I just finished installing all my wall cabinets and I don't think I could have done it without these jacks. I put up a 1x3 ledger board to rest the back of the cabinets on then used the jacks to level them and hold them in place. My hands were totally free to use...

I put up a 1x3 ledger board to rest the back of the cabinets on then used the jacks to level them and hold them in place. My hands were totally free to use my level, drill and other tools. I looked all over for cabinet jacks and most are much too expensive for one time use. These little guys are fantastic for the do it yourselfer.

A little pricey but these are useful. Like their big brothers, these take a little time to break in and get used to using. If you work alone like me, you are always looking for tools/ways to make the job a little easier. These jacks work fine to support cabinets, apply pressure to countertops and a variety of other tasks that require a "3rd" hand. Like most Fast Cap products, the idea is great but the quality control has a little to be desired. All in all a decent product.

I had both this version and the bigger version that works for crown molding.
This one has a very good price/value ratio, I could adjust cabinet to perfection by myself. It's strong enough to hold cabinets on it...

My only concern , when trying to adjust the cabinets in place, this thing can raise the cabinet up with fine adjustments(one needs to get used to it), the problem comes when you need to LOWER it DOWN...the ONLY option you have is to release the handle and start pumping it up again....

Very annoying, I'm considering paying double the price for other brand like T-Jak (screw type) that work both directions smoothly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Product was great but amazon has a problem, May 27, 2008
This review is from: FastCap Little Hand HD 3rd Hand Support System, Set of 2, 16.5-Inch to 22.8-Inch (Tools & Home Improvement)
The product was exactly as expected as i have the larger size 3rd hand already in use. The problem was that this product was sold as a "2 pack". When received there was one in the box. After calling Amazon they resent the order and told me to just send the original package back. As expected when it came there was one in the box. Now i have the 2 i ordered but Amnazon is waiting for my return. Sigh......after 2 phone calls i'm still tryting to explain to them that they have a problem in there stock room. The saga continues.....

The Little Hands work great. They are similar to the 3rd hands, just a shorter version. They are perfect for installing upper cabinets when working alone. I ordered 2 sets of these (2 - 2 packs). One Little Hand in each pack was missing the bottom micro adjust. I contacted FastCap for replacements. FastCap customer service was outstanding. I have never worked with a more responsive and concerned company. They will definately get more of my business in the future.

I removed all the old kitchen cabinets in one piece by myself. Not that easy. Installing the heavier top ones in the garage was even harder. Until I ordered Helping Hands. They paid for themselves in just one use, and then some. Not tanks but sturdy enough. I got both the long and short. Both are very useful, especially the pumping action and the micro adjustmentsl. A must have for any home owner or craftsman. The ultmate do-it-yourselfer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitchen cabinet replacement made easier., November 10, 2010
This review is from: FastCap Little Hand HD 3rd Hand Support System, Set of 2, 16.5-Inch to 22.8-Inch (Tools & Home Improvement)
Replacing kitchen cabinets used to be a team effort, but with the right tool, one can actually work alone. Used specifically to replace the upper cabinets, the job followed this order. First, I used the jacks to aid in the removal of the old upper cabinets, utilizing the existing counter top on the lowers units for support. Holding the cabinets steady, I was able to remove the mounting screws alone. The old stove and frig. were also used with some risers (made from scrap lumber) to remove the odd cabinets. By placing the jacks at the FRONT edge of the cabinets, the lifting pressure automatically holds the cabinets against the wall. I removed them one unit at a time until clear. Leaving the lowers in place, it is now time to install the NEW uppers, using the same process in reverse. One could actually replace one upper unit at a time, but as my design called for differing dimensions, I removed all the old uppers first. While the walls were bare, I marked the stud locations for fastening. While the jacks hold the cabinet for you, get the unit square and level, and drive the mounting screws. Once all the uppers are in, put the jacks away, and swap out the lower cabinets.
This great tool saved time and effort, and yeilded flawless results.

Could not have completed my spouse-driven kitchen project without these two little guys. Highly recommend them to anyone who has to relocate cabinets and doesn't have a helper or helpers. Oddly, at a major hardware store in our vicinity, I talked to four sales associates who had never heard of a "cabinet jack."
