You will find most 16' tape measures on the market are basically toys. I have found only two that are made to almost the same standard as the more popular twenty-five footers. The Fast Cap is the better of the two. As a professional I will go through about four of these a year. Cheap enough, but I would rather pay more for higher quality, which I just can't find. My rating for this product is in comparison to other sixteen footers.

What a cool tape measure. You can view the scale correctly if you pull left or right. I like the 1/16" markeings for fast and accurate readings. The pencil sharpener is also very handy! I can take notes right on the white face of the tape measure, which saves me time looking for paper.

These tapes, like the other Fast Cap tapes offer a lot of nice features but their quailty control stinks. Despite that, I still keep buying them. The durability of this as with most tools is a result of how they are used. I've not had any blade breakage issues, but the clips do tend to wear out and break off. Not a big deal if you keep it in your pouch. The pencil sharpener is a great feature as is the write on pad. I use the flat tape quite a bit and the lefty/righty is one of my favorites. I rarely need a jumbo 30' tape with a 10' standout, (that's what lasers were made for) so this 16 footer works well for me and fits in my pouch, and hand nicely. I have found some of them to be 1/16th off, but I can work with that. In fact if you compare a Stanley to a Lufkin to a Starrett to a Berger etc, none will match up exactly to each other. All in all, a nice tape at a good price.

I was really excited when I got the tape measure, but found that it was 1/16-inch short, and then the blade lock broke. My kids teased me about my $11 pencil sharpener, but that is what it turned out to be. Calls to the company were not returned. Too bad - it had a lot of neat features.

Since the clip on the end does not slide, you end up about a 16" off when you measure between to objects. The numbers are large and easy to read. You don't get any symbols blocking the tick marks.

I used this tape for 15 minutes, then the blade broke in half. The description that claims the blade is thicker than usual, but in actuality, blade is thinner than most.

It was a shame as this tape had so many good things going for it.

I have had my tape for about three years, and it finally got to the point I needed to replace it. I haven't had any issues with breakage, other than with the black coating around the rim of the tape measure, which chips off if dropped. What I really love about this tape is that all the fractions are clearly measured, which keeps me from having to guess what fraction of an inch I'm dealing with. Agree with other reviewers that the overall measure can be off for inside dimensions if you don't watch it, and it can be hard to read the fractions under an inch due to the hook placement. But for overall use, the clear tape marking really makes up for a lot of other issues. This is my personal favorite that I always reach for when I'm really striving to nail my dimensions.

I bt it because of note area, that's the good idea. Otherwise tape is light weight & cheap. Too much writing on tape and "ft" notation is tiny, if you are over 40, you can't read it. Tape is way floppy. The 25' is no better. I went back to Stanely and stuck a label on sides for that note taking surface.

it`s really handy ,and that writing pad is really cool ,now i can write my measurements down and have it ready when i need it .But tape is 1/16 off ,which sometimes makes differences .On the other hand I`ve checked rest of the measuring tapes on the market for accuracy and discovered that almost all of them are 1/16 or more off,basically considering all of that ,i`ll recommend this product.

Tape measure has worked with out breaking and is easy to read. The pencil sharpener is difficult to use and is not a reason to buy this tape measure.
