You'd better be ready for this!,
By Mr.Vengeance (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faster Pussycat (Audio CD)
A sure-fire 5-star disk! I have always said, when asked, that the best album released since I was a high school graduate in 1985, is Appetite For Destruction, by Gn'R. However, I have always said that Appetite for Destruction's huge success, kept Faster Pussycat's BRILLIANT debut from achieving it's due.
Both albums were released around the same time. At that time, FP's album was getting much more publicity. But then "Sweet Child o' Mine" took off, and the Pussycats' album got buried. It is a SOLID 5 star album! It is L.A. sleaze-metal-rock at it's best. You have the classics, in "Don't Change That Song" and "Bathroom Wall", as well as "Cathouse". But the whole Stones-meets-metal sound continues on solid tunes like "No Room For Emotion" and "City Has No Heart". Frankly there is NO bad song on this whole disk! "Babylon", Shooting You Down" and "Bottle In Front Of Me" are good. "City has No Heart " and "Ship Rolls In" are strong rockers that make this album much more than a "trash metal" album. It is a classic metal album!

A fun type music cd that came to us in the later part of the 80's. Taime Downe's vocals were very unique at the time. This cd is just fun barroom rock. Songs of interest include, Don't Change That Song, Bathroom Wall, Babylon, Smash Alley, & Bottle In Front Of Me. Purchase it, you won't regret it!!

Great album - only Faster Pussycat album worth owning,
By A Customer
This review is from: Faster Pussycat (Audio CD)
Faster Pussycat had only played six gigs before legendary producer Ric Browde discovered them in Hollywood and inked them to a deal. The band was fresh, hungry and with Browde's rigid hand on both the arrangements and, in a little known fact, songwriting came up with a classic album. Brent Muscat's "No Room For Emotion" is worthy of the Stones "Beggar Banquet" era, "Babylon" - through Browde's adept production magic became the ultimate party song of the 80's. "Cathouse" is hysterical and high energy, as is "Got Your Number Off the Bathroom Wall." The sad thing about the album, other than the unfortunate closing song, is that the band's label president hated Faster Pussycat - and did everything in his power to suppress the album - even going as far as firing the A&R guy who signed them. But the band's unique energy and perseverence triumphed - and allowed them to continue for a few short years...although never with the energy or inspiration of this album.
