A BEGINNER-FRIENDLY PATHWAY TO WINDOWS XP,
By reviewer (Zurich, Switzerland.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faster Smarter Microsoft® Windows® XP (Bpg-Other) (Paperback)
"Faster Smarter Microsoft Windows XP" provides one of the easiest pathways through which an 'XP' beginner could quickly metamorphose into a knowledgeable user. This book is loaded with well-tailored information, which were designed to encourage novices acquire remarkable skills in no time. It is direct and very easy-to-follow; and allows its reader to progress at his or her own pace. It even contain elaborate information on how to configure various Windows tools. There is hardly any beginner who would not appreciate the style and methods of this book. Its introductory outlook is cute. Indeed, I agree that it is a fast and smart way to start. But, if you are not a beginner, there is little wisdom in investing on it.

Faster Smarter Microsoft Windows XP (Bpg-Other)
This book was one of the best investments that I have ever made and the price was very reasonable. The author has been writiing about Microsft products for almost 2 decades and he is well-versed in the Windows-XP operating system. The book begins with an overview of the new features in XP and then covers it's features in detail with words, pictures and important tips to remember. By following the book the reader gains a working knowledge of the XP operating system and as importantly, when you get stuck with a problem, you can quickly find the resolution of the problem by looking in the book. After only a few months' use, my book is dog-eared with both turned up and folded over pages. Over the years I have used a number of books as learning tools to help me learn how to use a computer and its features and this book is by far the best of the bunch.

Ed Bott provides a clear and concise easy-to-read snapshot of Windows XP. The book is geared toward more of an advanced user. But it is not; it is completely a beginners manual. If you own Windows XP Inside and Out you do not need to spend money on this book. I am a strict critic when it comes to reviews so sorry Ed this only gets three stars though this review might be a little late. Some of the content material (I say some) I could not understand why it was located near the beginning of the book. I won't belabor that point but there was one point in the book, and because I am a techie, I cannot help but notice the language concerning a simple driver was poorly laid out. I do recommend this book, however, it is a basic and beginners guide. If you have a good grasp of the Windows desktop you don't need this book. There is nothing technical in it. It's an easy read.
