5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Livin' But Not Easy Listenin', September 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fastway (Audio CD)
Among the many great hard rock albums that came out in 1983 such as Def Leppard's "Pyromania", Quiet Riot's "Metal Health" and Iron Maiden's "Piece Of Mind" , this album was by far my favotite. Even though this album sold only a fraction to these great albums, musically it can stand up to any of these aformentioned works. While yes its is Zeppelin-infulenced, lead guitarist "Fast Eddie" Clarke brings the hard and fast elements from his former band Motorhead into the mix. Drummer Jerry Shirley bashes the skins harder than he did in Humble Pie. But to me the star of this band is lead vocalist Dave King. I consider him to be the most underrated metal vocalist of all time. His powerful vocals simply just burn, with just the right touch of bluesiness added. I love this album just as much today as I did when it first came out when I was 16. It simply just rocks. Highlights are "Feel Me Touch Me..." "Heft" "You Got Me Runnin'" "We Became One" and the minor AOR and MTV hit "Say What You Will". Seriously check this CD out !

5.0 out of 5 stars Most overlooked album in Metal history?, April 25, 2000
This review is from: Fastway (Audio CD)
Coming at the tail-end of the NWOBHM Fastway combined all the elements that made that movement successful and came up with an absolutely timeless classic slab of bluesy HM. David King shows off his incredible range and feel while Eddie displays a heretofore unseen side:a sense of musical balance. It will always be a mystery to me why this first album was their musical zenith. The rumors of the day had it that in early 1982 Pete Way (UFO), Fast Eddie (Motorhead), and Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) would get together and form a British Metal supergroup. This seems quite likely seeing as how Lizzy and Motorhead were under the same management. As this was during Phil's lowest point with his adddictions and Eddie was fighting addiction battles of his own it's probably better for Eddie that this never happened. Better for us as well because we were allowed the pleasure of introduction to David King.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Overlooked Band, October 10, 2005
This review is from: Fastway (Audio CD)
Song for song, one of the best debut albums of all time. Straightforward kickass rock with a blues edge. David King's vocals soar througout and the drive never lets up. The follow up, All Fired Up picks up right where Fastway leaves off, with another great collection of bluesy rock riffs and great vocals.
Was lucky enough to catch them opening for Iron Maiden back in '83. Hope one day a DVD materializes but for now will settle for these two collections and the Trick or Treat soundtrack...King's Flogging Molly has put out some great stuff, but of a far different nature.
