I rated this book a 3.5, for most of the information is good. So instead of reiterating what was good, I have expressed items that can really make or break you from following this diet.
The problems with this book are as follows:
1. There are no substitutes to the some of the more expensive products she recommends. For examples: Flora-key, Fat Flush whey, etc. Only directs you to her distributor "Unikey" - Have to do a lot of research and digging to get some alternatives: Flora-key use Jarro-Dophilus® + FOS Powder (12 billion) but cut dosage in 1/2. For the whey use Jarrow Whey Protein Vanilla Other people have suggestions?? 2. It requires a BIG food budget. To get you through the first week, expect to pay around 300 if you don't have any of the supplements (whey, flax oil, probotics, cranberry juice) It does get a little cheaper for the rest of the month, but as soon as you run out of the supplements... $$$ 3. It requires a LOT of time for food preparation. I noticed this was probably a big issue with her first book, since she now does "left over" days. Don't be surprised if you spend 1 - 2 hours a night to prep food for the next day (assuming you work during the day). 4. Items that don't have set recipes are very hard to follow and require a LOT of interpolation. How to cook the food, how much to serve, etc. 5. No good gauge on how much food to buy. Because of number 4, you don't know if you need to buy one carrot vs 5lbs of carrots. Based on this there isn't really a shopping list for the 14-day(s) meal plans that provides. Making it VERY time consuming to go through the book and write/type down the shopping list.
In wrap up, unless you are willing to sacrifice time and money, you may want to look at another option.
Fat Flush for Life is a wonderful year-round program that takes into account the unfluence that the seasons have on our health. It incorporates detox, fitness, and other protocols that change with each season. The book was easy to read and is very easy to follow. I love the "wellness" section at the end of each seasonal Fat Flush. It helps to keep boredom at bay. One of the many gems that this book has, is the "Hot Metabolism Booster", which is a 5 day plan that kicks you metabolism into overdrive. Perfect for those times when you "over indulge". All I can say is....fabulous. There are many delicious recipes and meal plans. There is great flexibility with this plan. It allows for entertaining, eating out, and eating "on the fly". An excellent resource for anyone wanting to create a healthy lifestyle for themselves. This book gets two thumbs up from me.
Once again Ann Louise Gittleman has introduced an approach to healthy eating that is out of the box. The seasonal approach makes sense and includes all the tools necessary for success, why hasn't someone done this before? With added fitness plans, the book is definitely made for a lifestyle, not just a diet. Any seasoned Fat Flusher will want to add this book to their collection. The Hot Metabolism Booster is an awesome. Easy to follow, quick results, and very tasty. The new and additional approaches to the fat flush program are great. Ann Louise Gittleman also is extremely talented in writing to the every day person, she explains her program well, without overdoing it with complicated approaches, anyone can do this. Working full time, also owning a small business, two young kids, and a husband I consider myself fairly busy and sometimes diets or healthy eating is difficult, this time around Fat Flush for Life has included more options for me and makes the plan even easier to follow.
