5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Great CD of Original Songs
This is a great example of unrealeased trackdom. Here we have all the mainstays of Fat laying down fat tracks that we so desperately need to hear. And yet you don't have to lay down fat cash to get ahold of them. If you like Blink 182, you need to get this cd because this label is the main progenitor of the pop punk sound. And oh what a sound it is. Here we have two...

Here we have two of my personal favorites, Bracket and Wizo. Wizo is a German band, but sings mostly in English. The melodies are amazing, and who cares if this particular song's in German anyway. I bought all their cd's from Germany for crying out loud. But seriously, the chick band on here is pretty sweet too, Fabulous Disaster. Kind of like DHC but without the ska influence. If you like them, check out another girlie band, Superchick. Superchick is the best pop punk girliegirl band I have ever heard. Ok ok, I'm done. Laterthere.

P.S. Check out poppunk dot com, a great resource for info on pop punk bands that generally do not get much press (which is about 9 out of 10 of them on independent labels).

Right lets get things straight... This is one of the best punk comps about. For only a few bucks or quids as I come from the UK(home country of punk.)you get absolutely brilliant tracks from Consumed, Mad Caddies, Snuff, Lagwaggon and Me First And The Gimme Gimmies.
Definitely one for the Fat collection. If this is your first punk comp I reccomend you get survival of the fattest but If you are into Fat punk Go Get It.

This is an excellent album. I too cannot seem to stop listening to the tracks. Zero Down opens it up and it keeps going from there. Great contributions from Anti-Flag and Sick of it All. If your familiar with the other Fat volumes this will fit in nicely. If you're not, then there's not better album to start with than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Fat Wreck Comp, June 17, 2002
This review is from: Fat Music 5: Live Fat Die Young (Audio CD)
Sick of it All, Anti-flag, Zero down, Rise Against, The Ataris and every other band that has ever been on Fat Wreck Chords. Great to listen to while waiting for Punk-O-Rama vol 7 to come out. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best One Yet, March 9, 2001

This is far and away the best Fat Wreck Chords compilation yet--even though volumes 1-4 were killer too. What makes this so much better than the others is the addition of some new bands that are really putting out amazing stuff. Fabulous Disaster, an all girl band from SF, recorded a truly incredible song for the comp, "Flesh and Bones"--the lead singer's voice is just awesome. Zero Down's song "Down This Road", which is the opening track, is really good too. I'm a little disapointed with the Anti-Flag track "Seattle was a Riot", it just doesn't sound nearly as good as any of the songs off their last cd 'A New Kind of Army'--the drummer is still on fire though. As always, the stuff by Consumed, an amazing English band, and others like MF+GG, Mad Caddies, and Lagwagon is awesome.

So this is a cheap CD. Doesnt mean it cant have some good music. The songs that really stand out are Novacaine by Strung Out and San Francisco Fat by NOFX... I mean seriously who wouldnt want a cheap CD with a lot of good music so buy it or else you cant be a punk rocker!!!

Once again another fat comp of watered down (pseudo) punk tunes. The garbage put out by fat-wreck-chords is amazingly bad. But I guess when you don't know what punk is you buy into what they are selling. But on the upside I think fat-wreck-chords are the best in true Capitalism...make that money honey.

Buyer beware.... there are real punk comps out there.

This isn't one of them though.
