5.0 out of 5 stars Tastes great and humorous!
This was a gift and I was very skeptical about the outcome of any of the finished products - fat free decadence? 3.0 out of 5 stars No nutritional information...
I haven't had a chance to try any of the recipes yet, but am very disappointed that there is no nutritional information for any of the recipes. I understand that they're low fat/fat free, but they don't include calories, fiber, etc.

This was a gift and I was very skeptical about the outcome of any of the finished products - fat free decadence? So I tried the Ultralight Pastry Dough, Sweet Cheese Puffs, World's Thinnest Pizza Crust, Thousand Island Dressing and the Hot Fudgy Milk Chocolate Sauce. They all turned out wonderful! Tasty and pretty simple to make, I found myself enjoying a little slice of sin without the burden of butter and loss of flavor. Flavor is one element I have found is lacking in most fat free cookbooks today but not here. Though there are no pictures of the final products (except for the four on the cover) I found that Mr. Wolfe's descriptions at the beginning of each recipe gave me a smile and the urge to quickly try it. A definate MUST for anyone fighting the fat war and you don't have to spend alot on the ingredience or the book for that matter.

This book was clear, concise, and used ingredients readily found in your home. The sugar cookies were amazing, as well as the cupcakes, and the breads were great! This book is a must for anyone trying to follow a low-fat diet, and it is a definite plus for anyone with a family they are cooking for!

5.0 out of 5 stars A homerun for fat free cooking!, August 8, 2009
This review is from: The Fat-free Junk Food Cookbook: 100 Recipes of Guilt-Free Decadence (Paperback)
Wow! What a great cookbook for anyone who is on a low fat or not fat diet. Usually recipes that are low or no fat are very bland, not the case with this book. I've tried a few of them, and all of them are really good! I can't wait to try the rest of them.

There is just one small drawback. This doesn't have any nutritional information about the calorie count. Other than that, it's a fantastic book. If you buy it, I can promise you won't be sorry. I know I'm not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff!, June 30, 2011
This review is from: The Fat-free Junk Food Cookbook: 100 Recipes of Guilt-Free Decadence (Paperback)
Having one of those quick breads for breakfast.Would rate this book 10+. Was worried its one of those books where you got to use "half of fat free jello" or splenda. Well its not that kind of book. There are actually real ingredients and tons of good ideas. Also it doesnt say anything about nutrition,so why expect it? It said "fat free" and all those delicious recipes are fat free.So you get what you paid for. Which i believe is a reasonable price. Awesome cook book.

If you are a junk food junkie like me, and you need to extremely reduce the fat in your diet to lower cholesterol or other reasons like me. This is a must have book. With the help of this book and others like it, I was able to lose 25lbs. in five months (and keep it off), and I lowered my total cholesteral by 56 pts.! By using these recipes, I was able to "pig out" and still achieve my goals. I didn't feel cheated out of not having junk food. I also read labels...lots of labels and didn't eat anything that had more than 4% total fat in it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Cinnamon Roll Recipe alone is worth the price!, February 18, 2001
This review is from: The Fat-free Junk Food Cookbook: 100 Recipes of Guilt-Free Decadence (Paperback)
While I've only tried several recipes in this book, the cinnamon roll recipe alone is worth the price of this book. The first time I made them they flopped, but I just gave them a second try last night and wahla! I can hardly get over the fact that they're fat-free and my step son loved them, the real test! ANd my cinnamon rolls looked just as good as those on the cover, if not better! I didn't have any luck with the fudge recipe, but then again, it could be something I did and maybe I'll try it again. Good luck!

1.0 out of 5 stars fat free is not calorie free, April 30, 2010
When the fat is removed from a food, simple carbohydrates(sugars) are added to make the wonderful taste in these recipes. And sugar is the cause of most weight gain--not fats. Fats are misunderstood--especially saturated fats.

I eat eggs, meats, half and half, whipping cream, sour cream, cheese, chicken fried in lard and coconut oil all the time--never do I eat any fat free or low fat foods, and I have my cholesterol checked yearly--last time it was a mere 155 total, and I have NO weight problems or heart disease. the lipid hypothesis is a big myth. Gary Taubes say it all in his book: "Good Calories, Bad Calories." But everything one knows for sure is found in his own experience, and I have found this to be true in my own life experience with fats in my diet. actually I would rate this fat free junk cookbook as what it is--pure junk with a rating of zero, or maybe a minus zero.
