5.0 out of 5 stars Eye Opening and Informative, June 23, 2005
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
As a professional dog trainer who works with owners of aggressive dogs on a daily basis, I found this book full of the kind of information the general public needs to educate themselves on the very serious issue of irresponsible dog ownership.

I highly recommend it for anyone who would like to get the complete picture when researching information on breeds and breed-specific legislation. This is the information the media won't give you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Book, July 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
As a professional dog trainer and one with a dog-related incident prevention program, I highly recommend this book. It is truly a must read regardless of whether or not you own a dog.

The book is well-researched and written in an easy to comprehend fashion - just the facts and not so long as to be overwhelming.

I cannot thank Ms Delise enough for what she has produced!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oklahoma Animal Welfare Advocate Applauds This Book!, September 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
Fatal Dog Attacks by Karen Delise is a well researched, in-depth study of the various factors which have led to fatal dog bites.
It is also a clarion call for compassionate and responsible care of dogs.

This brilliantly written, one of a kind book is easy to read. It should be read by animal control officers, shelter workers and volunteers, dog rescuers, dog owners and especially parents of infants and young children. There is plenty of information and food for thought in this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Educational, March 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
This book is awesome! It not only provides statistics backed by 37 years of studies, but all provides information and education behind the attacks. I wish I could put the whole book on my website and the whole world would read it, it would definitely educate the general, uneducated public who support breed bans, has dogs forever tethered outside and for those who don't know how children and dogs should be introduced and monitored! There is just too much good information in this book to put in this review!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good resource for a complex problem, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
I found this book a very useful summary of various fatal dog attack studies in the United States. THe author's distinction of "family Pet" vs "resident animal" is particularly insightful but Iwish it had extrapolated that concept further. Definately worth reading but depressing what some humans have done to their animals and the impact it had on mostly innocent victims.

I purchased this book to help guide me in a research paper. I certainly believe that it was very helpful. This book is filled with tons of information dealing with what goes on behind the scenes of a dog attack. Well explained information throughout the book, as well as an interesting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are pit bulls the only killers? NO WAY!, April 5, 2006
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
This book takes actual statistics instead of exagerated media accounts of fatal maulings. It proves to be the answer to all pit bull owners problems... Our dog arent the only dogs capable of killing... all dogs are... the right amount of training and caring can prevent pretty much all fatal attacks. The scum that abuse their dogs are to blame! Lets hear it for statistics!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read for dog owners, November 5, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
This book is a must read for any dog owner and certainly any community contemplating breed specific legislation. As the owner of a very sweet Pit Bull my husband and I are saddened by the fact that the breed is so maligned and this book provides great information on the attacks which give our breed such a bad name. My only complaint is the layout of the book reminds me more of a published thesis than a professional publication, but the information is so good look beyond that!

5.0 out of 5 stars How to prevent Dog Bites, May 6, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics (United States) (Paperback)
Very interesting, informative, well research book, and thought provoking. Only wished book would have been longer and that its author Ms. Delise would of exmained other Working Dog Breeds such as the Fila and the Boerboel and whether Personal Protection and or Schutzhund Training trains and prevents Dog Bites and or fatalties .
