Great cozy read,
This review is from: Fatal Flip (An Interior Design Mystery) (Paperback)
I picked this book up for its great cover. But, I found the Indiana town and its likable characters a rare treat. I really enjoyed this fun mystery cozy. I had some free time and took the book outside and just devoured this book.
It is a light mystery with no gory scenes. This is just a wonderful book with a cute plot and funny characters. Try this book if you are in the mood for a quick cozy mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are so real. Every character reminded me of one of my friends or family. Looking forward to the next book.

Although the main character and I are both baby boomers, we are worlds apart. My children are much younger, my husband is attentive, I'm not a dog lover, and I detest cigarette smoking. Having to read about every cigarette she smoked made my eyes water and if an interior designer showed up at my home reeking of cigarette smoke, she'd be politely asked to leave. That personal bit aside; the book was pretty darn boring, the humor a little too forced, and WAY too much time spent on mundane details. Life is too short to have to read that someone dried themselves off after their shower, put a fresh roll of paper towels in the holder and tossed the now empty bottle of all-purpose cleaner in the trash, or changed their red hair scrunchy for a plain brown rubber band--just to name a few.

On the one hand I liked the book for what it is. On the other hand, the author irritated me by continually misusing two words. I found myself losing the train of the book every time she did.
A "manse" is the parish house - the house provided by the church for its pastor. It is not a nickname for a mansion. "Disinterested" means neutral or not "having a dog in that fight," not uninterested. |
