3.0 out of 5 stars Nexus & Kane's Path Of Rage Continues..., July 19, 2010
By

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Fatal Four Way 2010 (DVD)
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre - Before the match, Drew demanded that Teddy Long come to ringside & watch the match. Drew focused on Kofi's arm by ramming it into the post followed by various armbars & kicks while Kofi did his usual offense including doing various DDT's throughout the match. Drew came back including doing a running powerbomb from the corner before the referee eventually got knocked out. Drew forced Teddy to get in the ring & count for Drew but Teddy had enough of Drew's abuse before Matt Hardy appeared again to get his revenge on Drew & helped Kofi retain the title in the process.

Divas Champion Eve Torres vs. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox vs. Maryse - Normally there isn't much to say about these divas matches but I'll give credit here to the women as they actually put on an interesting match as the girls attemped to do something different in that we saw a much of submission holds during this match including a moment where all the girls did a sequence of them back to back to back with other moments like Gail & Eve both having a submission on their opponents at the same time & later duing a dual boston crab/camel clutch submission on Alicia Fox. We got a little bit of high flying as well with Gail Kim doing a dropkick that got a "Jumping Bomb Angels'" reference from Matt Striker (for those old school fans) & Eve later executing the moonsault before the pin was stolen from her by Alicia Fox. This was definately better than the average divas match.

As a side note: Maryse had a lower body "wardrobe malfuction" at the end but I expect you should look elsewhere on the internet to find it as WWE will probably change the camera angle.

Evan Bourne vs. Chris Jericho - A bonus match here & what a bonus it was as the fans were split between these two. This was a very fast paced match that had a mix of both high flying & grounded wrestling from both men. Bourne early on showed great athleticism as he did a standing vertical leap that was high enough to deliever a frankensteiner onto Jericho who was sitting on the top rope while later doing a move that Jericho was able to counter into the Walls Of Jericho in one quick motion & Bourne doing Air Bourne but landing on his feet right into a codebreaker. Personally, this was my favorite match of the night as I felt these two stole the show.

World Champion Jack Swagger vs. Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio vs. C.M. Punk - With the names involved in this match, this was disappointing as they didn't do anything that stood out or was really memorable pass Jack Swagger executing a double suplex on both Mysterio & Punk. I'll give them credit in keeping this a fast paced match that never got slow while telling the story of everyone else teaming up together to take out the biggest threat in Big Show. As eluded to in the PPV opening video & the pre-match video, the "elephant in the room" was the appearence of Kane looking for revenge for his brother Undertaker being attacked and he appeared as expected with his casket & judged who he thought was the guilty party before Mysterio was able to score the win to become World Champion for the second time in his career.

United States Champion The Miz vs. R-Truth - R-Truth defeated Miz to win the vacant United States Championship only to lose it in a Fatal 4 Way match on the previous RAW so this was the rubber match between the two but before the match, Miz decided to do a rap of his own which led to the commentators have tons of fun as the expense of both men for their entrance raps. This match was actually the second longest match of the night as they went close to 15 mins. here but unfortunally both men didn't work well enough to keep this match interesting for that length of time as you heard "this is boring" chants while the crowd was completely dead for the rest of the time. While Truth did his usual offense, I'll give credit for Miz here as I think this is the longest singles match he ever had & did deliever a good effort here. Unfortunally, this is a match that just went too long for what both men are capable of doing.

Hart Dynasty & Natayla vs. Usos & Tamina - For those who don't know, the Usos are the sons of Rikishi while Tamina is the daughter of Jimmy Snuka and they had attacked the Hart Dynasty on RAW for weeks setting up this mix tag match where only Natayla & Tamina can wrestle each other while the men can only wrestle each other. The girls went at his first with Natayla dominating before the guys were tagged in making for some various moments throughout the match such as Tyson Kidd attempting a DDT from the apron to the outside only for it to be countered into a samoan drop into the ringside barrier while the Usos also showed traces of their father by executing the Rikishi running buttsmash into the corner. The girls were tagged back in which saw Tamina at one point attempting her father's "superfly splash" only for Natalya to act like Bob Backlund & get of out the way for her to miss & allowing Natayla to pick up the win for the Harts but this was a very good showing for the Usos & Tamina.

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Sheamus - The crowd was very vocal here as we had dueling pro & anti-Cena chants throughout the match but this was very similar to the previous World Title match in that it was a nice brawl between all four men & told some stories about continuing the two individual feuds (Cena/Sheamus & Edge/Orton) while also renewing some old ones (Orton/Cena) and futher pushing character development (Edge being the "ultimate opportunist" at the expense of his alliance with Sheamus). However the only downpart of this was the ending as you knew it was coming based off the previous two weeks of RAW with the Nexus invading leading to a new WWE Champion based off lucky timing. What was probably the most interesting thing about the match is that at the end of the show, they the crowd wasn't chanting of the name of Cena but the name of someone who's becoming the cult favorite of the "WWE Universe" ever since he was recently "future endevored."

In the end, this was a better show that you you got the previous month at "Over The Limit" however the gimmick matches on here weren't anything special & were booked almost exactly the same way (past the Divas match being better than they usually are with the participants involved) which made me enjoy most of the undercard more with Jericho & Bourne having the best match of the night. In the end, this was a better than average "b-level" PPV that's worth taking a look at it's enjoyable & watchable but nothing really special past Jericho vs. Bourne.

As a side note: I think the cover is pretty "cheap" too as I would have just used the PPV poster with Randy Orton on it but as far as being upset with the winners on the cover & spoiling the show...you find out what happens on the PPV (wins/loses/ect.) anyways starting the night night on TV anways so that's a non-issue with me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Here is a REAL review, June 20, 2010
This review is from: Fatal Four Way 2010 (DVD)
Ok, so we see three 1 star reviews about Fatal Four Way 2010 and complaints about the cover art and spoilers. With all due respect, let me tell those people this, 9 times out of 10, people all ready know the results because this PPV happened back on June 20th and simply get over the artwork on the cover, what is important is actually reviewing the event itself. As for that, it wasn't half bad, but i wouldn't recommend it.

Intercontinental Championship

Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

I truely believe this match topped their Over the Limit encounter by a mile. This match was givin a really good amount of time for an opening PPV presentation. Kofi's unorthadox style is always fun to see and McIntyre showed some improvement working with the IC champion. There were some nice and even hard hitting spots pulled off and a messy, yet creative ending with Teddy Long and of course, Matt Hardy makes his presence known. 3.75/5

Divas Championship Fatal 4 Way

Eve (c) vs. Gail Kim vs. Maryse vs. Alicia Fox

Well, to be brutally honest, this is the same old diva crap. This match contains not stop screaming and awkward submission holds. Nothing new and nothing good, well except Maryse's little wardrobe mounfunction, for that, i'll raise the rating just a bit. 1.5/5

Chris Jericho vs. Evan Bourne

Fatal 4 Way presented us with a little bonus presentation to continue the fued between Y2J and the young uprising Evan Bourne. Turns out, this was the best match of the night. From seeing there two encounters on raw, this PPV bout was sure to be a great one and it was just that. There was a nice mix of highflying and ground work and the crowd was very much in to each competetor. The ending was very creative as Bourne pulled off a different kind of Shooting Star Press. These two worked very well together as they put on a match of the night. 4.5/5

World Heavyweight Championship Fatal 4 Way

Jack Swagger (c) vs. CM Punk vs. Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio

Unfortunetly, i was dissapointed with this one. This was one of those situations where the talent in the match was good for the most part, but on this night, nothing stood out. The match consisted of punch/kick/punch combinations with a few standout moments such as a triple suplex involving Mysterio, Punk, and Swagger. Show had such dominance over this match, it got boring at times. To add to the flaws, Kane had a very uneccessary appearence. The winner of the match was suprising and some didn't give it a lukewarm reception, but, things happen. Decent match flooded by flaws. 3.5/5

United States Championship

The Miz (c) vs. R-Truth

This match went on for way to long! There were so many problems with this. The crowd was dead silent, the match again was to long, and these two just did not give full, maximum effort. I knew this wasn't going to be anything special, but my god, besides the divas match, this was the worst of the night. 2/5

6 Person Tag

Hart Dynasty & Natalya vs. The Usos & Tamilia (sp?)

This was also a bonus addition to the night, but we didn't get a very solid match like Jericho and Bourne put on. Don't get me wrong, this match was pretty good, as the diva's did well and the Uso's didn't do to bad for their first PPV appearence, but these teams have more in them. Some nice teamwork pulled off by the Harts of course and one good thing i did like about this, was that WWE let the diva's finish this match off, and they didn't screw it up. Decent match, good finish. 3.5/5

WWE Championship Fatal 4 Way

John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Sheamus

I was really looking forward to this match, but just as the Heavyweight Title 4-Way, this also dissapointed me. There were some good interactions between each competitor as they all work well together, but on this night, it just didn't mix right. There were some good outside spots in this match and we saw a little continuation of each seperate fued between Orton & Edge and Cena & Sheamus. The ending was just to predictable as nXt once again made their presence known as Sheamus won his 2nd WWE belt. I enjoyed this match, but alot was missing, and the ppv ended at 11:35, wtf!? 3.75/5

I understand where the reviewers are coming from that are complaining, but if your gonna do a review, make it on the event itself no matter what. 4 of the 6 matches were very much watchable and the standout was Bourne/Y2J hands down. Semi solid event, but once again, i don't recommend a buy, maybe a rent.

4.0 out of 5 stars I WAS THERE!!!!, September 3, 2011
By
Tracey Treglia (Smithtown, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fatal Four Way 2010 (DVD)
First off, I do not own this DVD. I was at Fatal-4 Way and to be honest I thought it was gonna absoluetly suck. Turns out, it wasn't as bad as most people also probably expected. The only thing was they included some last minute matches and a very good bonus match. Overall, one of the most anticipated PPVs of 2010. (When you go to a WWE show, comment if during the opening promo of the show, people yay and boo the superstars. Its constantly changing so you get out of breath if you participate)

1. Intercontinental Championship

Kofi Kingston(c) vs. Drew McIntyre (16:29)

This match was great. It lasted very long and was a huge satisfaction to the crowd and especially, me. There was a small buildup of Drew McIntyre injuring GM Teddy Long on SmackDown! This match included some interference by Matt Hardy and Teddy Long himself. McIntyre was mostly in control throughout the match but once every while, Kingston would find some DDT of high flying move to use as a reversal. I think that this was a truly great way to start the show. I never saw there match at Over the Limit but obviously this had to top it. 8.5/10

2. Fatal 4-Way Match for the Divas Championship

Eve Torres(c) vs. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox vs. Maryse (5:42)

Sorry, but the first match was so good and long that I got hungry and well, this match was my snack break LOL.

3. "Bonus Match"

Evan Bourne vs. Chris Jericho (12:04)

Let me just say that this match was unexpected and the crowd obviously went CRAZY for Evan Bourne but the New Yorkers were also in favor of Y2J Chris Jericho. (NY loves the heels) this match was very incredible and high-flying. Evan Bourne got out of the Boston Crab on a few occasions. This could possibly be Bournes best match ever. He did some major high flying moves and worked so hard to be on top. Jericho delivered some high-flying moves with a random german suplex to change some the odds in the match-up. In my opinion, Match of the Night. 9/10

4. Fatal 4 Way Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Jack Swagger(c) vs. The Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (9:55)

This match was pretty good and my favorite other than the IC Title Match and the Bonus Match. This match was pretty back and forth. Everyone except Swagger was favored by the crowd. There really in no buildup other than The Undertaker getting seriously injured and to be found by the Big Red Machine Kane. Now Kane is thinking one of the four in this match is responsible of all responsible. Great Spots in this match include Swagger suplexing both Punk and Mysterio at the same time, Mysterio going for the 619 but Big Show catches him in the ropes and throws him onto the table and Kane coming out, grabbing Punk and chasing him around the stage trying to throw him in a casket. It was kind of short but watch it anyway. 7.5/10

Rey Mysterio: The Life of A Masked Man DVD

5. United States Championship Match

The Miz(c) vs. R-Truth (13:23)

First, The Miz came out and started to make a rap to Truth's music and the crowd liked that. (It was funny) This match was long and medium-paced with few high flying moves by R-Truth. To be honest, I don't remember this match that well. It really isn't anything special. 7/10

6. Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match

The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith and Natalya Niedhart) vs. The Usos (Jimmy, Jey and Tamina) (9:31)

I did not care for this match.

7. WWE Championship Fatal 4 Way Match

John Cena (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge

I thought that this match was exciting, but its pace got slower throughout the match. The best part about the match was how NY is mostly full of Anti-Cena fans so Edge and Orton were the big favorites to win the Match. It was exciting but got a liitle boring. Mostly Edge and Sheamus were battling each other. Seriously, the actual best part was when Evan Bourne, R-Truth and the Hart Dynasty are watching the match in the locker room the the NXT Rookies "The Nexus" attack them then come out to the arena and beat up security and go for the four challengers. They try to fight back but the seven beat the four. I don't give out too much detail for main events but you have to buy the DVD if you wanna see it. 7.25/10
