3.0 out of 5 stars Isn't this supposed to be a martial arts movie?
When I had first seen Fatal Fury 1, I couldn't really say it was a bad anime because I had never seen anything of it's type before, but it was still pretty boring. So I gave it an average rating. When I saw Fatal Fury 2, it proved to be much better because of it's improved martial arts choreagraphy. A story of several martial artists out to stop a man from achieving god-like status, by acquiring Armor of God, might seem a bit cheesy at first, but once you get into the movie, it is very exciting to watch. Another great thing about this Anime is that you don't have to know a thing about the video game to appreciate the movie. But if you do play the video game, it is even a bigger treat, to see all those awesome fighting moves come to life in full force. Quite an action spectacle.

5.0 out of 5 stars The DVD blows the VHS totally out of the water, May 9, 1999
This review is from: Fatal Fury (DVD)
I bought the VHS of this movie a long time ago and loved it. I loved it so much that I watched it about 50 times. I knew everything about the quality of the tape from when the audio screwed up to when certain parts were going to be fuzzy. When I bought the DVD I watched it and nothing, not one speck of fuzz was to be found, the sound totally blew me away too, way better than VHS. There are also a lot of extras on the disk that I liked too. Such things as Theatrical Trailers both in English and Japanese along with drawings, a backstory feature, and a lot of information about Viz including additonal trailers from other Viz Video offerings(a lot of them) made this disk well worth it's money. Words cannot explain the quality of both the video and the audio in this DVD. Amazon.com has the best price I've seen for this DVD anywhere on the internet. Don't miss out on it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fatal Fury the Motion Picture, January 17, 2003
This review is from: Fatal Fury (DVD)
This movie was great! I really liked FATAL FURY the MOTION PICTURE and for me personally, it was the end complete to the series (FATAL FURY, Legend of the Hungry Wolf and FATAL FURY 2). This one starts out a bit on the slow side, but once the movie kicks in a little, it's full throttle from there.

It starts out that the whole gang is getting back together to celebrate Joe Higashi's full recovery and return to the Muay Thai ring. Andy and Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui are all back together again and this time they find out that the legend of a mystical armor (the Armor of Mars) is true and that if all 6 pieces of the armor were to come together, they wearer would be invincible. By accident, they find a young girl named Sulia amd she's being hunted down by some very strange enemies. The gang then finds out that the people chasing her are working for her brother, Laucorn. He needs his sister to help him find the final 3 pieces of the armor and become a God. It's up to Joe, Terry, Andy and Mai to stop him and protect Sulia at all costs.

The animation in this is great, the action is a vast step up from FATAL FURY 2 and the story is also great. And for all you scurvy pervies out there, there is a shower scene with Mai Shiranui. I'd check this one out. Out of the 3 FATAL FURY series videos, this one is my favorite. Check it out, you'll definitely enjoy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars They fought and never look back, November 5, 2001
By
Andrew Neamlaor (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Fatal Fury the movie is one of a kind anime mix with a video game. Street Fighter is still the other anime that I like because bringing the favor into the character is wonderful. Terry is the calm, street fighter, Andy is stressed out because of Mai, Joe acts like a bonehead and Mai is a bit pighead sucking up to Andy to protect her. When one of the pieces of "Armor of Mars" was founded by "Laocorn" he plans to use all six pieces to become a god. Not only that his twin sister Sulia asked Terry to help her brother to be free of the cruse. Terry and his team went on to find the armor to prevent Laocorn to be controled by the armor. Fatal Fury action, drama, and some comedy to impress the fans. Special apperances by Kim Kapwhan, Duck King, Billy Kane and others from FF2. What makes also makes this movie special is the song "Oh Angel" at the credits. sounds romatic.

When I first got this movie I had thought I was some kind of sequel to Street Fighter but I was wrong. Fatal Fury was 1 of the best I've seen. This is my second best anime next to the Street FighterII series. Kids who can't really watch a PG-13 movie or R I suggest you shouldn't watch this because there are some blood and gore scenes and a hott shower scene. I hope this was helpful. ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Sight over Substance, February 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Fatal Fury (DVD)
To begin with, this is not a "serious" movie. It does not have an engrossing plot. There really isn't any significant emotional drama. Whatever drama that is here is over the top. Where this movie really shines is the animation. If you like good action with incredible quality animation, then serisously consider buying this DVD. There are plenty of fight scenes, and the eye-candy in the climax will astound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fatal Fury - Best of the Best, May 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Fatal Fury the Motion Picture [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Fatal Fury is truly an incredible movie - as a faithful otaku, I admit.... most anime based on video games just plain out reek. Amazingly, Fatal Fury pulls off an incredible movie in The Motion Picture. The other two movies, Legend of the Hungry Wolf and A New Battle were also exceptional in their own right, and TMP only gets better. The plot is fully there, and while it perhaps starts out as "That's your plot? Ah hah hah!" turns into... "I.. love this movie!" Anime fans of romantic anime or the "ordinary life" anime series etc won't particularly like Fatal Fury, but Fatal Fury is fighting anime, and it does that well. Beautiful animation, a great soundtrack, and unforgettable characters with genuine relationships come together to create a movie that is well worth an hour and a half of your time. This is a must see movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fatal Fury the motion picture, September 5, 1999
By A Customer
Fatal Furry: TMP was a very good japanese-anime. I await to watch FF2. The story is about Terry Bogart who w/the help of his brother Andy, Andy's fiancee Mai and The Bogard's family friend Joe Higashi help a young girl rescue her brother from an evil curse which consumes his soul. They must ge the 3 remaining pieces of the armor of Mars and stop him. Mai is very funny and brings the person in Andy and they are all really cool See it if you don't believe me!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Isn't this supposed to be a martial arts movie?, August 12, 1999

When I had finally seen Fatal Fury:The Motion Picture, I was disappointed by the lack of true martial arts action especially after seeing a fight where all they did was connect fists, using the force of their chi, until one of them fell to defeat.I prefer to think of FF:TMP as more of an X-Men type movie than a martial arts movie because all they do, when they fight, is throw a bunch of energy blasts at each other.Despite all of the things I didn't like about this movie, I think FF:TMP did have plenty of action and a good storyline and fortunately, I do like X-Men. But since this is a martial arts movie with not much martial arts, I would definitely recommend Street Fighter II:The Animated Movie instead.
