Fatal Gamble,

This review is from: Fatal Gamble: A Novel (Paperback)
This novel is a real page turner! It grabs you from the first page. It is full of colorful characters who all seem "guilty" at one point or another. The author really keeps you guessing. Being from Massachusetts made me like the book even more because I was familiar with some of places mentioned. Definitely a great read! You won't be able to put it down! I highly recommend Fatal Gamble!

Fatal Gamble: A Novel
I love to read books that grab my attention fast and keep me there 'til the end. This book is what I love! Just the right amount of drama and suspense were packed into this thrilling book! I am very familiar with the area where the book took place and it was so cool to be able to visualize Gallagher being there! Keep it going! Thanks for the great read...give us more!

Very Satisfying Mystery Novel,
By
This review is from: Fatal Gamble: A Novel (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed "Fatal Gamble", by JP O'Donnell. This is a tight multiple murder mystery, with the antagonist keeping up the pressure throughout the book.
The novel takes you into Boston, but also to Washington D.C. and Florida. All the clues are laid out clearly but there's always one piece that still needs to be connected, so you have to keep turning the pages. Our hero, Detective Gallagher, is awesome. He is patient and methodical, but he can also carry the action. O'Donnell has created a character that I hope to see again. Finally, I admit to being skeptical when I received this book (it was on my Wish List). It's self-published, by a local dentist. The book is well-constructed, but the size of the book wasn't the same as a regular paperback novel. It all felt "a little off." All that disappeared when I began reading. It's superbly written, and the pace is relentless. I finished it in two days, which is very fast for me. I completely recommend this book! You won't be disappointed.

Great mysteries with great detail on what could be going on today, especially if you like the Boston to Washington connection, with
some PA thrown in for fun.

A jaw clencher!,
By M.E.B. (Arlington, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fatal Gamble: A Novel (Paperback)
Both as an author and a dentist, JP O'Donnell will be happy to know that as I read his suspenseful novel, I kept saying to myself, "Relax your jaw, relax your jaw." It's hard to believe this is his first book. His attention to detail is fascinating and makes the story and characters so vivid. Through his characters, we are immersed in many different lifestyles and 3 very different cities. I never had a hint as to what would happen next, except that "the bad guys" would eventually corner Gallagher. When they actually did, I had no idea how he would ever get out of his jam. Not your typical arrogant P.I., Gallagher can be pushy when he has to be but basically has an unassuming innocence about him; a very likeable guy. Easily movie material - I am already wondering who would be chosen for each role. A sequel will be necessary; how else would we know what Gallagher is up to next?

You will be captivated from the moment you start to read. The familiar places in the Metro Boston area make it all the more gripping. Gallagher is quit a character. Can't wait for the second book.

Gallagher was great company during an 8 hour lay-over in Zurich airport. Each chapter kept me in suspense. The time flew! My only complaint was that I didn't get any sleep because I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend it.

Fatal Gamble is the Best Bet,

Murder and suspense fill this modern, old fashion read. O'Donnell's canny ability to bring the reader into this crime thriller is satisfying enough to quickly expand an already growing fan base. Looking foward to the next Gallagher tale.
