Cain is a man who displays quiet confidence and inner strength even as he struggles to overcome the sins of his past. Centuries ago he was reborn as a creature of the night - a vampire. Surprisingly he found that in losing his life he gained his faith and a purpose. His mission: find the hostile vampires who have settled in this small college town, and educate them to live in peace with humans. Their leader, Sindy is a wicked temptresws who has set her sights on Felicity's new friend Ben, and will be difficult to control; but after meeting Felicity, Cain's most difficult task lies in controlling himself.

*ALMOST HUMAN is planned as a series of successive trilogies, not stand-alone books. Each trilogy is meant to be read in order, as the story unfolds and the characters continue with each book. There will be a certain amount of main storyline closure in each 3rd book, but there will also be some story-ties leading from one trilogy to the next in the series.

Melanie Nowak has always had a vivid imagination and a fascination for the paranormal. Acting and singing in theatrical productions throughout college and in church had always been a passion. However, upon conceiving the idea for the Almost Human series of books, she discovered a previously unknown passion for writing! Not only can she finally put her over-active imagination to good use, but she can create characters she loves, and she gets to play all of the parts! Melanie Nowak lives in New York with her loving husband, two young sons, and an ever growing collection of pets. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science.

I positively LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! When I first read Fatal Infatuation it grabbed my attention and heart unlike any story I read before. Since then I've read volumes two and three and consider myself an Almost Human junkie for life. Fatal Infatuation kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning just to see what happened next!

Melanie Nowak has created a wonderful world that is all her own, while merging many different genres in the process. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. It's obvious she took great care in developing the plot and awesome characters, (Cain, Felicity, Ben, Allie, Sindy, etc...) under a plethora of wit and imagination.

If you are a reader who loves vampires, romance, mystery, humor and suspense then you've certainly come to the right place. Ms Nowak penned a world that just keeps getting better and better. By the time you finish volume three you won't want the story to end. But don't worry, volume four - Born to Blood in the second trilogy is available and it is fantastic! I won't say anymore least I spoil any surprises. I have relatives in Italy who loved the first trilogy and are addicts as well. In addition, I've recommended Almost Human to other paranormal genre readers and they too are hooked.

I'm really looking forward to continuing this great roller coaster ride with all its twists and turns. I suggest you buy all three volumes and taste the venom for yourself! But don't say I didn't warn you... this stuff IS addicting. Happy reading!

I had been searching for a series with the romance and action of twilight. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Almost Human trilogy. The author, Melanie Nowak, spent time developing each character with care. The plot is original and keeps you interested through out the three book series. Each book starts exactly where the last left off. I read all three books in four days and left me wanting more. According to the author, there will be more Almost Human trilogies concentrating on relationships between different characters - YEA!

The adult romance is grittier and darker than Twilight but the relationships between lovers warms your heart in more ways than just the obvious one.

As in the twilight series, the main characters were well developed so that the reader feels the emotions of each. You will fall in love with Cain, Felicity, and Ben as I have.

The Almost Human books are independently published so there are some grammatical errors, but not enough to distract me from this wonderful story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made you feel like you were a part of what was going on. The characters were awesome! I have always liked the books that made your really hate a character through a good portion of the book and then really like them at the end. I won't spoil this for anyone and tell you who that character was for me but I thought all of the main characters was awesome! I also like to judge a book on how well the descriptions of the characters and the scenes are. No disappointment there, the book played through my head like a movie. The book was both well written and flowed well! I can't wait to read the next one! This is a great book, don't miss out!
