5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Entertaining Story December 25, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I sat down to read for a couple of hours and couldn't put the book down till I finished it. The birth of one child and the death of another starts to unravel the complex character developments of all involved. The story moves from love, hate, joy, despair and tragedy effortlessly. The writing and storyline is thought provoking and enables you to understand and relate to each character. The book is a great read that gives you a glimpse of how difficult life may have been in Montana in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I hope there is a sequel. This is the 3rd book I've read by this author. Judith McDowell is undoubtedly a gifted and talented writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars FATED MEMORIES - A BOOK TO BUY September 6, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Set between Boston, Massachusettes & Montana in the begining of the 1900's, this is the story of Jessie, the only child of a rich Montana rancher called Eathen & his wife Charlotte. Eathen dotes on his only child & when Jessie falls in love with an Indian of the Blackfeet tribe called Two Spirits it is more than he can stand & is hell bent on revenge & after Jessie runs away from home to be with him, Wolfer the indian wolf hunter is sent to track her & bring her back to her father. The story unfolds on a dark stormy night in Boston & takes off from there & is really "Jessie's Story". There is everything here, Indian Folklore - love, that which grows & that which destroys, heartbreak, pain & tears for the tragic unfolding of events that can't be avoided. Highly reccomended

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful love story October 12, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
This is an enticing tale of young love and romance, in an era when a man's color was more important than his character. I loved the manner in which Ms. McDowell writes about the Thornton family and the forbidden love of Jessie and Two Spirits. A must read for all romance readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent book May 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
although I enjoyed the previous 2 books by this author, I felt this was the best so far. I really felt connected to these characters. Readers today may have a hard time relating the harsh reality of racial issues of the late 1890's, I can assure you it was very real. Jesse was a very immature young lady who was playing with fire and Two Spirits should have known better than to get involved. When human emotions cannot be controlled, sometimes, as in this book the result is most tragic indeed. Not all books we read will have a happy ending, but this one teaches a lesson we all need to hear. 5 stars from this reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fated Memories June 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book will take your breath away. Literally. I found myself holding my breath throughout the book and audibly gasping from time to time. It was beautifully written. On rare occasions, an author can create a character that makes you feel like hugging them to make it all better and kicking their butt all at the same time. THIS IS A MUST READ, but be prepared for a gut wrenching look at the lives of these characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! <Sept. 13, 2011> September 13, 2011

I discovered this author @ SMASHWORDS.COM and, as usual, KINDLE offered her sequel as well. It is a GREAT book: couldn't put it down. I ordered it long before I finished reading the sample and, also ordered the sequel "Long Ago Memories". Please read both: you will enjoy them both( for just $ 5.98) total!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! February 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I purchased this book after reading "Long Ago Memory." Having read this book second, I must say that learning the back story only made my opinion of "Long Ago Memory" more favorable. The well thought out characters and plot truly make this book just as enjoyable as it's sequel. Another great book by this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Run, don't walk, to order this book! March 1, 2011

A beautiful tale of star crossed lovers, Fated Memories, will draw you in from the first sentence making it a difficult book to put down. Although the ending is known early on there are enough twists and turns to keep you interested until the very end. This is a book that cries out for a sequel- actually a series!- and I can only hope the author doesn't make us wait too long for it.
