About the Artist

At the age of twelve, Paul Ferguson picked up his guitar and taught himself to play by attentively listening and adroitly emulating the musical mastery of such greats as Al Di Meola, Carlos Santana, George Benson and Wes Montgomery. With the technical knowledge that enabled Paul, to advance to the position of president of a computer software/web publishing company, and the discipline and determination he acquired as a black belt in Shotokan Karate under the tutelage of Mr. Errol Bennett, Paul explored the principles of the keyboard and subsequently developed the techniques, melodies and rhythms that produce the unique sound of SEQUENCE.

Using a keyboard, midi-guitar, synthesizers and an analog guitar, Paul creates digital orchestrations that reveal the genuine soul of his musical compositions. His many accomplishments to date include producing music for the Harris Corporation’s DTV (digital high definition) television, the development and implementation of entertainment programs while in the Armed Forces, a tour of Germany with his six piece band FFB, performances for the United Nations League of Women, and the production of music for TV commercials that have been aired on all major networks in the United States and throughout the Caribbean. In 1998 Paul produced music for ALIX Toys, an interactive CD-ROM Catalog.

He has also played lead guitar for the Platters, and has opened for such great acts as Ray Goodman and Brown, Blue Magic, Roy Ayers, Onaje Allen Gumbs, Najee, and Manhattan Transfer. Paul has performed for such renowned establishments as the Minority Golf Association of America, The Apollo Theater, also the Manhattan Center, Indigo Blues and Sweetwaters in New York. He has both arranged and performed music for UJAAMA, Titus Walker’s Theater Company in New York City. Paul has also played for the Bose Factory Corporation using their latest home theater system the lifestyle 30 to demonstrate through. Paul has recently played at Madison Square Garden as well.

Performing as a one-man orchestra, Paul was among the featured entertainers at the June 1996 Black Comedy Awards. With Guru, he scored the soundtrack for the movie Girlstown (1996). His musical expertise earned him the coveted position of Musical Director for GBTV’s Culture Share, a popular show that broadcasts in New York, London, Grenada and other islands of the Caribbean. He also scored the soundtrack for the Documentary Arabian Culture through the Equine Industry for B.E.T

Along with Chaka Khan, Ramsey Lewis, Branford Marsalis, Donald Byrd, Ronny Jordan, Patra, Kenny Garrett, Kool Keith and Lonnie Liston Smith, Paul was recently featured as a pianist on Guru’s compact disc Jazzmatazz ll. As a member of the musical entourage of Guru’s Summer ‘96 European Tour, Paul performed at the JVC Jazz Festival in London (Royal Albert Hall), Foro Italico (Rome), Arena Festa Dell’Unita (Corregio), Arena (Vienna), Muffathalle (Munich), Boerse (Wuppertal), North Sea Jazz Festival/Congresgebouw (Den Haag), Lycabettus (Athens), and the Phoenix UK Jazz Festival.

In 1998 Paul was invited by Bet/Emerge Magazine to record one of his original songs Seashore Symphony on a compilation CD called The History Of Love. With such artists as Marion Meadows, Jean Carne, Will Downing, Jacques Burvick, Pieces of a Dream, Chuck Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Marcus Johnson, Signature, Pure Soul, and Dianne Reeves. In addition to the CD he will also be recording on the all jazz channel at BET ( BET on Jazz ).

In 2002 Avant Garde Digital Pictures Inc. announces the newest member of its production family Mr. Paul "Sequence" Ferguson. Undertaking the role of composer, Mr. Ferguson will produce original compositions for our growing "New Media" organization. Content will include theatrical feature films, direct to DVD programs and a barrage of specially conceived Internet projects. Mr. Ferguson’s dynamic musical endowment has propelled him to the very top of his game, and is thereby a

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Ecstasy, December 5, 2003
This review is from: Father (Audio CD)
Cruising down Lake Shore Drive in the Windy City on a warm summer evening with the top down and my hair flowing in the night air, the song I want to hear on the Father CD is "Time Charts."

If you ever need to feel the sweet and gentle hug of a mystical lover then look no further for the musical lullaby of your senses. The smooth and captivating style of this CD is an aromatic journey of lyrical and funky jazz, with a hint of Hendrix, and a blend of Windham Hills magic that boasts the multi-talented genius of a master at the keyboard/synthesizer, midi and analog guitar. This is one CD you wish would last for hours. The digital artistry of Sequence is a mesmerizing erotic journey of sound.

Calls to the ancients resonate hypnotic obedience to the sensual delivery of the rhythmic embrace of "Nubian Queen", while "Passion" electrifies the soul like the tender touch of fingertips on the skin. "Loving You" arouses me from the spell of fantasy long enough to lure my attention into the heartbeat of nightlife, and the culture of Long Island Ice Teas, marinated conversations with would be lovers and memories that surround me with the thoughts of back in the day when all I wanted to do was dance till the sun came up. "Be Bop Jazz" has a deep raw bass groove that perks me up from the insanity of a dream and rides me down "the Drive" with the glam of living large, just because I can. Smiling back at every flirtatious car horn, I turn up the volume on "Spiced Wine" savor the sound and toast the night ride with "Love" just because I know Sequence can.

"Grooving in Park Chester" makes this musical experience worthwhile, because the melody is sweet and drifts in afterglow like long goodbyes and endless conversation melting into the peaceful dawn. I can't say enough about this CD, but I enjoy every song burned from the soul of this talented musician. "If Only" is a perfect finale to my musical evening with bittersweet promise that leaves me wanting the thrill of "Effortless Love" with Paul "Sequence" Ferguson all over again. Pulling the Benz into the garage of my high-rise condo overlooking the lakefront, I glide on to the elevator humming track after track and daydreaming that "We Will One Day" share a bottle of Dom Perignon together.

This is a "MUST HAVE" 5-Star smooth jazz CD for lovers, dreamers and jazz enthusiasts who want to taste the best in original sound. Sequence is a phenomenal talent that entices his listeners with complex multi-layered musical vision. The tracks are crisp; blended and mastered with genius.

If you really want a treat, check out his latest CD, STRONG LOVE at: www.sequence.net It surpasses even this one (FATHER) in triplicate!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is your brain on truly imaginative ambient., October 21, 2004
This review is from: Father (Audio CD)
As an avid music fan, musician, collector and composer, I have never found any other recording which represented so thoroughly the true heights of ambient sounds.
This is the music Debussy and Chopin would be composing if they were alive and had the tools available which the new age affords.
Structurally, the sublime movements in these craftings harkens to "Preludes" by Debussy, and the transitional skill, deftly understated, conjures the mastery of Chopin compositions completely.
If you have not heard this wonderful disc, take the advice of someone who loves the genre...this is some of the best trance available anywhere.
