This review is from: The Father Who Had Ten Children (Picture Books) (Hardcover)
My 21 month old son LOVES this book! The colorful pictures are visually appealing and he enjoys counting the children on each page. The story is simple yet interesting - a great book for your child's library!

A book parents can relate to.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Father Who Had Ten Children (Picture Books) (Hardcover)
Thefather is a typical busy parent who dreams of some 'alone' time. But, when he gets it, he is lonesome. My daughter loved the book so much, she took it to preschool for show and tell.

Children from 2-5 will enjoy this book the most. This book is a most extraordinary picture book, and deserves more than five stars. First, it has images that remind one of Matisse at his best. Second, the typography has the look of being printed by long hand, which gives the book a friendlier feel. Third, the choice of colors is dramatic and wonderful to behold. Fourth, the pages are oversize, which makes the book more accessible and appealing to young children. Fifth, the story itself is very funny and heart-warming at the same time. Sixth, the book also can double as a basic reader. Seventh, you can use the book to learn counting, as well. Eighth, you can give this book to single fathers as a Father's Day gift. Hard-working fathers who help around the house will also appreciate it. In either case, the father who receives it will be relieved to see that he has by being the parent of fewer than 10 children. As a result, I cannot remember a book that serves so many purposes. You should be strongly consider The Father Who Had 10 Children for purchase and years of reading pleasure..

This reviewer recently became the proud father of a baby daughter - his 10th child. So the title of this book caught my attention. It has been read and re-read to the children of our house, till the cover is dog-eared. A very fine and funny and warm story!

What happened to the mother?... thats the question,
By
This review is from: The Father Who Had Ten Children (Picture Books) (Hardcover)
My kid accompanies my reading of this book with a constant counting of the 10 kids (sometimes you see only their legs when they are in the tub) and wonders what happened to the mother? but the book and its ending are very satisfying - no effort is made by the author to hide the fact that growing kids is a hard work (check out the father's beaten face by the end of the day) which is satisfying for the adult reader, however, he cannot do without and that is satisfying for the young. Simple lovely drawings (I like the dinner page with the specific count of food items).

This is a great story... add it to your collection. My daughter loves to follow along as I really the story, prediction what comes next. She also has asked a lot of good questions from the story. I think she understands how parents can get quite tired taking care of their children, but that they love them through it all. The illustrations are great as well.
