4.0 out of 5 stars For Fathers and Pastors - Get it!
In anticipation of this year's Father's Day (June 21), I promised myself that I'd read one book on fatherhood--I purchased Dr. Myles Munroe's The Fatherhood Principle: Priority, Position, and The Role of the Male.

3.0 out of 5 stars okay - but limited perspective.
okay - but limited perspective; I would have liked a more well-rounded point of view; addressing other authorities on the topics would have been nice.

This review is from: The Fatherhood Principle: Priority, Position, and the Role of the Male (Hardcover)
In anticipation of this year's Father's Day (June 21), I promised myself that I'd read one book on fatherhood--I purchased Dr. Myles Munroe's The Fatherhood Principle: Priority, Position, and The Role of the Male.

I read it with great delight. One paragraph in particular really got my attention:

At the root of sin is the absence of real fathers in our world. The sin problem is a fatherhood problem, because sin is the result of a man--Adam--who declared independence from God, his Source and Father. Adam believed he didn't need a father and that he could be a father without the Father. That is when the human race fell into rebellion against God. (pp. 81-82)

When I think of the growing number of single mothers, esp. in the African American communities, because a male sired a child but didn't have the guts to be a father; when I think of the gender-gaps in our churches; when I think of corruption in corporate America; when I think of pimps--I have to agree with Dr. Myles Munroe: "At the root of sin is the absence of real fathers in our world."

"The absence of real fathers in our world" also applies to "fathers" in a home who are really not true fathers: when "fathers" leave it up to the mothers to be the fathers--to sustain, nurture, protect, teach, discipline, disciple, lead, care, develop, and so on...
