One of the greatly underestimated family relationships is the bond between fathers and children. Fathers are not necessarily taught to be fathers by their own dads; even mothers, at times, do not comprehend the significance of father-child relationships and thus don't know how to foster and encourage them. It's kind of a big, societal mystery how sometimes the relationship works and sometimes it doesn't. As a new father, I was scared, nervous and excited about my approaching fatherhood, and like most guys it never occurred to me to read a book about it. My mother gave me this book and the power of the stories and the wisdom of the words were an absolute godsend. I am now five months into Fatherhood, knee-deep in baby things and loving every second. This book is fabulous and I think every single new father should be required to read it.

My father and I haven't had the best relationship in the past 10 years, as my parents are divorced and he missed my teenage years by a long shot because of the distance. Now that we live in the same city and I'm heading into my 20s, I still don't see him very often.

I found this book and decided to give it to my father for Father's Day. I read it and highlighted all the *incredibly* relavent parts, which ended up being half the book! I cried the entire way through the book because it really hit home. Mr. Glennon has an uncanny knack of seeing right into the hearts of emotionally neglected kids.

My dad and I still aren't the best of friends, but he's read parts of the book (still hasn't read all of it, much to my dismay) and has really tried to understand where I'm coming from. It's a very big step for both of us.

This is an incredibly important book and I plan on stocking up on at least 3 copies of this book to distribute when the time comes: one for my stepsister and her husband, one for my brother, and one for my future husband (when I find him!). I hope they find the true wisdom of this book and learn from the mistakes of others instead of making the same ones. There's just too much at stake: your child's life.
