5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter loved it!
I gave this book to my daughter for her bridal shower and it brought tears to her eyes, though it may have been due to the comments I wrote inside the cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars Selling dad's Minutae for $5.95 ...
I don't doubt the author loved his father, but it's a well-known truth that you mean the most to the people who knew you best. To everyone else, you're just a quotation. The problem with this book is that the thoughts aren't original sentiment, and those that are aren't very well written. 5.0 out of 5 stars A bundle of humourous and thought provoking phrases, June 29, 1998
Statements like 'Behold the tortoise, he only makes progress when he sticks his neck out!' and more give the reader food for thought with a little humour in a world where everything is safe and how it should be. Read this, and maybe you will gain the inspiration to try something different, something outrageous, something courageous.

1.0 out of 5 stars Selling dad's Minutae for $5.95 ..., October 15, 2011
This review is from: A Father's Book of Wisdom (Leather Bound)
I don't doubt the author loved his father, but it's a well-known truth that you mean the most to the people who knew you best. To everyone else, you're just a quotation. The problem with this book is that the thoughts aren't original sentiment, and those that are aren't very well written. I'm not a cynic by nature, but I'm not one to praise someone's "compilation" of unoriginal material lifted from much wittier men. I don't know why anyone would pay money for material that ought to be free. Even the thoughts that are original contradict other sentiment at various times presented in the book. However, I must admit I had a great time with this book, annotating "Dad's" comments with comments of my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Father's Book of Wisdom, May 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Thank goodness there are Father's with wisdom. Mine was not highly educated but very wise, understanding and kind. He is my idol and I do everything I can to pass on principles that will guide those for which I am responsible. I bought three "A Father's Book of Wisdom" and plan to give them out on Father's Day. I previously bought three "A Treasury of Poems" by Sarah Anne Stuart, indicated in the index the poems I felt inspired the best in human thought and conduct, and gave them to my sons and adult grandson. Our civilization is in grave danger and faced with many huge challenges. This generation needs to pass on to the next generation the best of what we have been given or our civilization will cease to be civil. It is up to all of us to do our small part to keep this from happening.
