5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Fathers' Rights Book, October 11, 2004
This well written book covers every aspect of the issues surrounding fathers' rights. Every chapter in attorney Gross' book is right on point.

The book is written in easy to understand language and is packed with resources that will assist any dad who has questions about their rights relating to the custody, support, and visitation of their children.

The book's appendix is comprehensive and contains sample documents relating to custody and support issues as well as resources for state and federal laws as they relate to parental kidnapping, child custody factors, and other important topics.

This book not only explain the various legal proceedings pertinent to child custody, support, and visitation, attorney Gross actually walks the reader through many of the topics in a self help format.

If you are a dad who has questions regarding your rights to your child, this book will provide you with many answers and point you in the right direction to get the help you might need to get the justice you and your child deserve.

G. Petersen, Paralegal

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read-but with another book,, December 3, 2007
'Fathers rights' is an excellent book for all those many thousands of us trying to keep in touch with much loved kids after divorce. I would strongly recommend reading FAMILY COURT HELL (available on amazon) with this book too. FAMILY COURT HELL is about one man's case that went to court a record 133 times and launched the worldwide Fathers 4 Justice campaign. The FAMILY COURT HELL case eventually resolved, but with no thanks to any court or judge, but instead with a combination of the fathers determination, the international protests he launched and his kids becoming old enough to take on the mother and the family law system-which they won! A must read, both books, gives you hope through the darkest of days.

I bought this book before retaining an attorney. Other than helping me choose and communicate effectively with my attorney, this book was particularly helpful with the following issues.

Mr. Gross first emphasizes the importance of separating legal issues from non-legal issues, and the importance of establishing an effective support structure accordingly. We need an attorney for legal issues, but we need friends, family, and therapists to address your emotional issues. This may sound so obvious, but I found myself from time to time tempted to mix those different sets of issues. This book has always reminded me to "put legal and financial issues in one basket (for my attorney), and emotional issues in another basket (for family and friends)." Thanks to this book, I have been able to receive great legal help from my attorney without wasting my money addressing issues that do not even help my legal case, and receive unconditional emotional support from my friends.

In the majority of the book, Mr. Gross explains how the family law system is set up, what options are available, what to expected in different legal procedures, what to consider when we take an action, etc. His explanations are very clear and succinct. He provides a lot of concrete pieces of advice (what to do and what not to do). The range of topics he covers is very wide; so, I encourage you to look at the table of contents. In this light, this book was extremely helpful educating myself with the legal system, and made my communication with my attorney very effective.

I found his appendices very useful. While there are a lot of commonalities across the country, different states approach/view the same legal issues differently. Mr. Gross fills this gap in Appendix C: Custody Presumptions and in Appendix D: Custody Factors.

Last but not least, I like the author's tone of voice. He acknowledges emotional issues that divorcing/separating fathers go through, and his sensitivity is reflected in the overall tone of the book. If you're "freaking out" about custody issues, this is one of the best books that I strongly recommend.

You can change the title to "A Mother's Rights" it works both ways. This is the best book I have ever read on a parents rights. It is so fasinating & an easy read.
Everyone who is going to court over child custody should read this book first before they ever step into a courtroom.

There's a lot of great info in here. I wish I had bought this the day the divorce started. Even a year later, it's a great resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars FATHERS HAVE RIGHTS, December 5, 2006
I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write this book. I wish I would have stumbled upon this book prior to my daughter's arrival. Currently, my daughter is 21 months old. If I would have had the knowledge in this book earlier, I could have made things a lot easier for myself and my daughter.

It's not over yet though . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Book Period, July 27, 2007
By
I have to say it is an excellent book. I do not have any children, but a
lot of my friends do. Some are married and some aren't. I have convinced 4
of them to read the book and 3 out of the 4 finished. I learned so much
from this book. All my friends have said the same thing that I have after
reading the book. You are very clear expressing your point. That makes a world of difference in reading a book, is how easy it is to understand. I am into family law and this has to be the best book I have ever read period. Not just for a law book, but for any book, it has changed my life. It makes me
think about every step I take.
