Stutzmann's Best, February 19, 2000

I could listen to Nathalie Stutzmann sing Schumann lieder all day (literally....she has released 6 volumes, 5 on RCA) but this collection of Faure melodies is the album where her voice first enchanted me. Her genuine contralto voice is every bit as beautiful and rich as a viola or cor anglais. This exquisite recording is an excellent introduction to Stutzmann's voice and Faure's works. Listener's will undoubtedly want more of both. Sadly, this was one of Stutzmann's last recordings with the late Catherine Collard, pianist.
