5.0 out of 5 stars Diary plus life!, March 25, 2011
This review is from: Faustina: The Apostle of Divine Mercy (Paperback)
I liked this book so much because it is shorter than the Diary, which is beautiful, but it encompasses diary quotes and then goes on to give the full picture of what all was going on all around St. Faustina as well. I was enthralled. What a beautiful saint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, Yes, Sister!, January 17, 2010

What a fascinating true story of the saint from Poland who gave the world a new way to pray using the beads of the Rosary. She was given an extraordinary mission from the Lord which she fulfilled and the results are present today. God spoke directly to her and revealed to her that Poland was saved from the extreme ravages of World War II partly due to her prayers for her beloved country.
Read her incredible story and the beautiful messages she received from Heaven. The image she holds in her hand represents the blood and water that poured forth from the wound of Jesus upon the cross.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary Story, Extraordinary Writing, March 1, 2011
By
J Gabriel (Alexandria, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faustina: The Apostle of Divine Mercy (Paperback)
I read this book with astonishment at nearly every turn of the page - for two reasons:

First, the story of St. Faustina herself is simply amazing. Her journey was incredible, and along the way Christ Himself reveals to her the message of His own Divine Mercy. This awesome and mystical message of God is arresting enough in and of itself. It is unfathomable to the human mind while at the same time a gong strike upon the heart and the soul of humanity. But this story is also about the Saint herself - her childhood amidst the backdrop of WWII, how she heard the message, her journey and quest, her travels, sufferings, triumphs and joy.

The second reason this book was so amazing: Catherine Odell. In the telling of the story of Faustina and the message of Christ, Odell is masterful. There seems to be not a single word out of place or wasted. The way she weaves the story of Faustina together with the theology of the Divine Mercy message seems inspired itself. The result is a narrative that is at once a thriller and thrilling, it is deep yet clear, a technical theological treatise and magnificent work of divinely inspired art.

Rarely - if ever- does one come across an hagiography that accomplished all things a writer would wish for. In this case we clearly and easily follow the story of the Saint and the message of Divine Mercy. I could not recommend this book and more highly for nearly any age. It is a gripping, "page-turner" that left my heart pounding and my spirit soaring. I can't think of an easier, more adventuresome and enjoyable way to learn of her story and this message. Magnificent! Extraordinary!
