Well, it must be stated, first and foremost, that Favela Chic is, hands down, one of the coolest, liveliest restaurants in Paris at this point in time. Tragically hip with excellent food and a mind-blowing decor to match that takes religious imagery and throws it into a mixing pot with grass huts, flashing lights and hard liquor. Such an avant-garde combination must be matched by excellent music. And nobody will deny that the Favela has some of the best music (Latino or otherwise)in all of Paris. This compilation takes Brazilian classics, old and new, spanning numerous musical genres (bossa nova, rock, capoeira - if this can be called a musical genre - etc. . .), and serves them up on a disc which perfectly exemplifies the restrained, exhuberant craziness that is Favela Chic. Granted, the music at the restaurant is a bit better (at least the nights I've been) but this isn't far behind. A wonderful album for those who can't hop on the metro to their favorite favela, and even for those who can. If you're looking for a fun, danceable, up-beat album look no further. For those who have been to the Favela, don't hesitate to purchase this album, you won't be sorry. (Note: The inside cover art, a replication of the last supper w/all the employees of Favela Chic, is worth the purchase in and of itself)

Good Brazilliam music for starters !!!

I heard it in Cannes 2001 at the Lions festival.. It is amazing,, I have looking for it for more than 4 weeks.. here it is,, I just bought it..
