There are few haiku anthologies in my growing library that get picked up as often as this totally enjoyable four-volume set by H.F. Noyes. His choices alone are inspired and inspiring. Then he adds wonderful commentary that enhances the appreciation even further. Part of the sheer pleasure comes from the fact that he has made his selections from such a wide variety of old and new publications, many of which are not readily available to most readers. If you're wondering what to buy next, go ahead and get the complete set. If you only buy one, you'll be hungry for more when you turn the last page. I'm already eager for volume 5.
