I actually bought this book several years ago when my mother had a lot of shade in her yard. It helped her find plants (other than ivy) that would grow in the shade and in very acidic soil. She had many large and old pine trees in the yard and several plants she put in the ground she found in the book. Bishop's weed (our last name) was a great choice for her at the time and we heard about it from this book. Recently, I've borrowed it from her for my balcony that doesn't get a lot of sun.
