After looking through this poetry book, I decided that it would be a great book for my first grade students to own. Our classical Christian School encourages poetry memorization, and I know that my students could read many of the poems, and their parents could read the others to them. What a great bargain for classic children's poetry.

My Mother loved this so much she took my copy and I had to buy another one. These Poems are old and brought back memories for my Mother of her childhood. I enjoyed reading some of these poems with her and she would tell me of the memories she had of my beloved Grandmother telling her these bedtime stories. What a special experience brought on by something as simple as a poem book. So glad I unexpectedly purchased this item.

Book arrived quickly, new condition. This would be a book for adults to read to preschoolers, help memorize some of the poems. There are no illustrations, just text. Some poems are long...not many of the short familiar nursery rhymes that children like to chant. Low cost. Some of the poems were new to me.

I love this book of classic children's poems and find myself reading them even when my kids aren't interested. It's the perfect book for a sick day when your child is willing to be still and listen. Can't beat the price, either.

This book is appropriately named: Favorite Poems of Childhood. It's a sweet little paperback you can acquire for under $5. Great for the car or Grandma's house. It's full of wonderful poems by famous authors, the memory of which your children will carry into adulthood just as I did. I would have bought it just for "The Duel," a whimsical poem about a Gingham Dog and Calica Cat that get into an awful spat! I was surprised at the number of poems I was able to recite from memory! (The book helped me fill in a few of the blanks from over the years!) Spend some quality time with your child and enlighten their mind and spirit with some poetry. You won't regret it!
