5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book, October 26, 2000
By A Customer
Honest to God, the best cookbook I have seen. I enjoy just sitting down and reading it, that's how good the recipes are. I have made several items from this book and really enjoyed them. The recipes are for simple, homey, comfort food and are easy to make without relying on expensive, uncommon ingredients. There are truly so many recipes in each category it is easy to find one that will suit my mood.

I liked this book so much, I gave it to 2 of my friends as wedding shower gifts and I recomended it to another friend; she bought it and loves it.

If you like gourmet, fancy or low-fat food, do not buy this book. If you like good food that is not hard to make and will get a lot of compliments, buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars best all around cookbook. Much better than betty crocker, August 19, 1999
By A Customer
When my mother first read this cookbook, a friend of mine had brought it over to the house. She liked it so much because it had the receipes she remembered from growing up. She offered to buy it right from my friend. My mother was visiting my house at the time, and I have refused to let it leave my house since. Guess what she will be getting for christmas? Her own NEW copy =)

By far and away the VERY BEST COOKBOOK EVER. The recipes are simple, basic and absolutely delicious. I received this book as a shower gift 7 years ago and it's my go-to cookbook whenever I need a failsafe recipe. I have so much confidence in this book, I don't think twice about trying a new recipe for guests, since I know it's going to be delicious and turn out perfect. This book has never failed me. You can find the ingredients at any grocery store (nothing too fancy). People rave about the food this book turns out! Tasty tasty.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Cookbook for the Distracted Quilter, August 3, 2005
I don't think I'd be able to count how many times I've used this cookbook. This is my second copy, as the first one is almost illegible because of all the grease stains. The recipes are easy to follow and use ingredients that are most often right in my kitchen. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants homecooked meals without spending the day in the kitchen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good recipes, April 16, 2007
This review is from: Favorite Recipes from Quilters (Plastic Comb)
The recipe for Belgium waffles is particularly good. We already had this book, but our new puppy chewed it up (guess she liked the recipes too). This new book with the spiral binding is a big improvement since the book will lay flat and stay open on the page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever Cookbook, July 12, 2011
By
Maureen Allan (Iowa Falls, Iowa, US) - See all my reviews
I received this cookbook from my sister-in-law and it is the best, overall cookbook I have ever used. I have never made anything out of it that was not successful. It uses every day ingredients and the recipes are easy to read and follow. I am purchasing 3 of these to give my daughters-in-law and daughter because it is so good. They are young cooks, but will have great success with this cookbook I am certain.

I purchased this for my new daughter-in-law because it's a great collection of recipes - and because some of them are mine! Don't know why, but quilters also tend to be good cooks - and always on the lookout for nutritious ways to feed their families that take the least amount of time away from their sewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars My best and favorite cookbook!, September 15, 2010
I have had this cookbook for over 6 years now. It is my favorite and I use it 99% of the time. Every recipe is good. I don't have the fear of "is this good?" when I try a new recipe. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Recipes, December 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Have had this cookbook for several years. Recently purchased for a wedding shower gift for a niece. She loves it too. My husband and I both cook and collect cookbooks. We have an entire bookshelf of cookbooks. This is one of the first ones we pick up when looking for something new to try. I use the recipes time and time again. Well written, easy to follow, common ingredients, good home cooking. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
