5.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Shirley Temple, February 22, 2009

This review is from: Favorite Shirley Temple Paper Dolls (Paperback)
Should you buy these books? Yes!!!
All the dolls are from photographs of Shirley, making them more beautiful and realistic than drawings. Taken from several original books, these are great reproductions. All pages are heavy rather than light weight paper.

The Classic book has a large doll, requiring 2 pages for the doll. The clothes are on 1 page each.
There are 4 dresses, a coat, hat and shoes.
There is a beautiful medium sized doll, with front and back. She has a total of 9 outfits, a coat, several toys and an umbrella.
There's also a tiny doll with a coat, hat, 2 dresses and a purse. The colors are true and bright. The artwork reminds me of Queen Holden's books.
This book looks more like it came from engravings, rather than copies of original prints.

In the Original book, the colors are more matte finish and slightly darker, but still nice. There are some items that are off-printed, making them slightly blurry. Those items came from an original that was off-printed.
You get 4 dolls, making 2 sets similar enough to share clothes. There are 30 outfits total, with some hats and a couple pages of toys and extras.

There is nice background info on Shirley on the backs of both books, as well as the front inside of the Classic book.
Shirley's movies were broadcast on TV in the 1950s, when I was a child, and have been shown ever since. Youngsters fall in love with Shirley every time she is rebroadcast.

You can't beat the prices, whether separately or together. Show the books to an older person. He or she will remember Shirley Temple and smile.

As a paper doll, she is really worthwhile.
