Matt Niess and his 'bones are just fabulous. These guys have come up with a rich, lush sound that will blow your socks off. From the crispness of "A Few of My Favorite Things" to the soft and smooth sound of "Tears in My Eyes," you'll love every moment of this CD. No jazz collection is complete without it.

I bought the Matt Niess/Capitol Bones recordings a few years ago for myself; and since then have been buying them as gifts for friends - to universal acclaim! If you love jazz, the sound of trombones (God's own instrument!), and a hot rhythm section, you can't go wrong. My only complaint is that Matt and the team haven't put out more recordings.

Being a trombonist, I have a difficult time finding trombone quintet and like CD's that I really enjoye. These guys are phenominal, and rank right up with Jay and Kai and their Octet (i.e. Jay&Kai + 6). The harmonies are extremely tight, making for very interesting and enviable listening!!!!

Every real music lover needs this CD!,

This is one of the best CD's I have ever listened to, period! Often "specialty" groups (like trombone quintets) make for boring listening after awhile, especially if you're not, say, a professional trombonist. But anyone who enjoys music would enjoy this collection, whether or not they have any appreciation for the INCREDIBLE technical ability these guys have. This CD features superb arrangements, sophisticated but accesible jazz improvisations, and outstanding artistry. In fact, I came to buy my second copy, and to buy their 2nd CD, "Epistiology" but it ain't listed, so I guess I'll have to buy it through their web sight.
